Lucy blinked.
Still smiling, Ariel tenderly kissed Lucy’s forehead.
“No matter what choice you make, my only wish is for your happiness. You don’t need to listen to anyone—not even if you wanted to become a Duke yourself. I just don’t want you becoming Blake’s apprentice. It’s far too dangerous.”
At the mention of her uncle, Lucy burst into laughter again.
“If Uncle hears that, he’ll glare at you like this!”
“Let him. The nerve of him, thinking he could possibly raise our daughter as his apprentice.”
“Haha. Even during my debutante season, Uncle offered to escort me himself…”
“Ugh… exactly. Imagine entering your debutante ball holding your uncle’s hand.”
Ariel let out a short sigh, but Lucy, beaming with joy, burrowed back into her mother’s embrace.
“But… having Uncle around makes me feel secure. Whenever I think about the debutante ball, my worries grow heavier—but one look at Uncle’s face and everything seems all right.”
