Ariel lifted her head slightly as she put the main dish into her mouth.

Across from her, Lucy was diligently cutting her steak, and when Ariel shifted her gaze sideways, she saw Damian quietly watching Lucy.

Just as Ariel had pretended not to care about her father’s story, it was clear that Lucy was still seriously upset with her dad.

Trying her best to avoid mentioning their argument, Ariel steered the conversation toward a suitable topic between daughter and husband.

“Hmm, how about we talk about the book Lucy was reading this morning? Mom’s really curious—earlier today, the butler mentioned our Lucy was reading a book.”

“I read a story about a hero who defeats monsters.”

“Really? That sounds fun! How was it? Mom would be so happy if our Lucy told her about it.”

Thanks to Lucy mentioning she’d been reading, Ariel quickly brought up the book.

Lucy, who had been cutting her steak, set down her knife and cast a sidelong glance at Damian.

“The hero hasn’t defeated the monster yet. I’ll tell you once I finish reading.”

It was obvious Lucy was comparing the monster to Damian, yet despite her pointed look and tone, Damian merely nodded, seeming not to take the child’s words seriously.

Lucy picked up her knife again and focused intently on cutting her steak.

Ariel quickly gave Damian a meaningful look and moved her lips silently.

“It’s about you! Talk to Lucy a little.”

But Damian merely arched an eyebrow calmly and tilted his head as if completely failing to understand Ariel’s silent cue.
