“I missed you, Ariel.”

Damian’s eyes, too, were brimming with tears just like Ariel’s. Lucy, sitting on his arm, asked in a small, startled voice, “Daddy, are you crying?”

“Damian…”

As Ariel approached him, Damian reached out his arm but flinched.

In one arm he held a bouquet, and in the other he was holding Lucy.

Damian twitched awkwardly, unsure what to do with his arms.

Meanwhile, Lucy, wearing a serious expression, poked Damian’s cheek with her finger. She turned her head toward Ariel and moved her lips silently.

“Mommy, Daddy’s crying,” she seemed to say. Ariel chuckled softly at the child, who acted as if her father’s behavior was strange.

Then she quickly took the bouquet from him first.

“The flowers are really… beautiful.”

Ariel hadn’t thought Damian would voluntarily buy flowers himself.

He was far from being a romantic. Moreover, since he hadn’t even replied to her letter, it was impossible he’d think to bring a bouquet.

Yet she accepted his flowers. The bouquet contained all kinds of blooms—clearly, he’d asked the florist to include as many varieties as possible, hoping at least one would be her favorite.

Seeing how full the bouquet was made Ariel burst into laughter.

“Daddy, why did you buy so many flowers?”
