Merche had vanished. He didn’t even know how much time had passed since then.

The fever that had hindered his movements had cooled, and the moment he felt vitality slowly returning to his body, Lud immediately threw off the blanket and stood up.

“Hey now, hold on! You shouldn’t be moving around like that just yet!”

The elderly physician cried out behind him, but it was futile trying to catch up to Lud with his long strides.

Rushing down the creaking stairs, he swiftly mounted his wolf in one motion and immediately broke into a gallop.

The sky stretched dark above him.
