“It’s just… it’s been so long since anyone held me like this. It feels like I’ve finally been granted permission to stay here.”

“Is that so? Then I should hug you more often—so Lucena can put down roots.”

“Haha, I’m not a child anymore.”

“True enough. I heard about your exploits during the conscription order—you’ve certainly grown.”

“Matian worked harder than I did.”

“Don’t be modest. You’re the one who saved Lord Kuran.”

“Huh?”

“I’ve been so focused on my husband’s affairs that I only just heard about your deeds. Thank you, truly, for saving Lord Kuran.”

Ms. Gail gently patted Lucena’s back before pulling away.

Saying she’d been away from the infirmary too long, she quickly readjusted her grip on her cane.

“See you again soon, Lucena!”

Taking a few steps back, the teacher pushed her black glasses slightly down her nose and waved broadly.

Though her sightless red eyes didn’t quite meet Lucena’s, the sincerity in her farewell came through clearly.

Tapping her cane lightly against the floor, Ms. Gail walked back toward Closet College, where the infirmary was located.
