Jerome murmured toward Matian’s retreating back.

“Children naturally burst into tears or laughter dozens of times a day, don’t they?”

The High Priest handed Jerome the hair tie from his pocket and tilted his head backward.

Jerome moved behind the High Priest and began neatly braiding his long hair.

“Only Your Holiness would treat the great Matian Wiegartz like a child. Where else can you find such a big ‘kid’?”

“He called me an old man, so naturally I see him as a brat.”

“An old man… So that’s why you were upset.”

Good grief— who’s the real child here? Jerome sighed deeply and secured the end of the long braid with the rubber band.

The High Priest ran his fingers through the braid to check it, then offered Jerome a gentle greeting: “Thank you for your hard work, Jerome.”
