“Snow, you say?”

Rukna stared into the Proxy’s brown eyes.

They twinkled, awaiting the light that was about to bloom, like the dark dawn sky awaiting the brilliant morning.

‘Pretty.’

Lost in thought, his long hair fluttered over Rukna’s cheeks. His elegant and delicate features smiled brightly at Rukna.

Though it looked a bit hungry.

And with the words “Excuse me,” he put his fingertips on Rukna’s forehead and pushed hard.

Thud, Rukna’s upper body touched the plush back of the chair.

What kind of position is this? As Rukna was about to get lost in lewd thoughts, a sacred prayer was heard.

“Holy name in heaven. Your will shall arise from the sky and spread across the earth.”

Soon, a pure white light emanated from the forehead touching his hand.

Your Holiness, did you show such a seductive side just to do this?

As Rukna arranged her embarrassed feelings and stretched her lips long, a strange feeling began to rise from under her feet.

It felt like sinking into a bathtub filled with lukewarm water.

“You look somewhat unsatisfied, Sister. Did you have any other expectations?”

The Proxy’s voice sounded distant, as if she was really underwater.

And the drowsiness poured in. Rukna struggled to keep her eyes open.

“I don’t understand…the reason you told me to…look at your eyes.”

“That’s so you focus on me until the end. Especially your concentration was exceptional, Sister. I guess the eyes of this Nailon satisfied your aesthetic sense.”

But Sister, your wide-open eyes right now are humanly too scary.

The Proxy added a small joke, saying to relax the strength in her eyes.

“You told me to look…so I looked…and you’re saying…absurd things.”

Ah, I can’t take it anymore. Rukna closed her eyes to avoid the flickering mass of light.

Then, her consciousness separated from her body and shot upwards as if being sucked somewhere.

‘What is this? Did I have an out-of-body experience?’

At first, she saw a vast land covered in greenery, then the blue sky and clouds lay beneath her feet.

The sun was still shining brightly below, but the atmosphere gradually turned a deep navy blue and darkened.

And when the surroundings were engulfed in blue darkness, the endlessly soaring consciousness stopped moving.

As she looked down, the surface of the planet covered in blue atmosphere was spread out like a horizon, drawing a gentle curve.

It felt like if she lowered her feet just a little, the blue and clear sky would touch the soles of her feet.

‘It’s like floating in space.’

She was the only one existing in this vast space.

Then, the urgent sound of horse hooves was heard nearby, and a carriage suddenly passed in front of her eyes.

It was the Closet family’s carriage that Rukna often saw in her dreams.

‘How did this happen?’

She quickly looked around, but it was still an empty place, so she couldn’t tell where the carriage had come from.

Then, a huge rock flew towards the carriage.

The impact shattered the carriage and it rolled over to the side.

Father, who had been driving the carriage from the coachman’s seat, dragged his broken leg and came to check on the survival of Mother and the children inside.

‘This is my past memory, isn’t it?’

Rukna approached the carriage.

The sight inside the carriage was gruesome. Pieces of the shattered carriage were embedded all over Mother and elder brother’s bodies.

Only young Rukna, cradled in Mother’s arms, was unharmed.

The parents exchanged glances quietly, as if tearfully making a decision.

They opened a shabby box with a dented exterior and took out all the clothes inside.

And they put young Rukna in it.

Mother handed Rukna a leather pouch filled with water and some jerky.

She reached out her hands earnestly towards her parents, saying she didn’t want to go in alone.

At those words, Mother’s face contorted. If she had been a little younger, she would have said, ‘I’m scared too. I want to run away too.’ But now, she had to be firm because there was someone she had to protect.

At Mother’s question, small lips naturally mumbled the story they had recited hundreds of times.

Mother explained as if repeatedly telling herself that she was a strong being, and hugged Rukna with all her might.

Towards the crying Rukna, her elder brother Haines shouted while lying on the carriage seat.

A broken wooden stick was stuck in his abdomen, and Father was injecting as much holy power as possible into Haines.

Father only shed tears silently, as the bleeding didn’t stop easily.

Elder brother sarcastically said in a voice suppressing his tears.

Then he threatened to feed her broccoli every day if she came out of the box.

Haines gritted his teeth and suppressed his groans. No, Haines. Father grabbed his hand, clenched his molars tightly, and then looked at young Rukna.

Father’s hand, dyed red with Haines’ blood, stroked Rukna’s head.

With Mother’s last embrace, young Rukna went into the box.

Soon, a black fog that sucked life from afar rushed in like a tidal wave.

Mother closed the lid, picked up the box, and left the carriage.

Blood flowed profusely from her back, where wooden shards were stuck like a hedgehog, but she never stopped once.

Mother kept muttering while sobbing.

The black fog engulfed the carriage and the surrounding area. They sucked the life force out of all living beings.

Mother, who had been running away with the box, was eventually swept away by the black fog.

She threw the box with all her might towards the bushes, and then spewed out all her remaining holy power to block the black fog.

However, the power of the fog was immense, and it swallowed Mother in an instant.

The tip of the fog also flickered on the box where young Rukna was.

A very small amount of fog squeezed through the narrow gap and searched around to suck the child’s life force.

Young Rukna’s vision was pitch black as if submerged in the black sea.

However, the child endured the fear, pledging that she was a Closet that sustains the world, that she would become a huge anchor and not be shaken even by black waves.

At that moment, an eerie sound resonated from outside. The black fog that had swallowed the life force of her parents and elder brother gathered into a lump, took the form of some beast, and let out a groan mixed with pain.

As if it had swallowed something it shouldn’t have, it writhed and changed shapes from a tiger to a hyena, a deer, a rabbit, and a baby rat, gradually getting smaller, distorting the space irregularly.

The black fog began to be sucked into the crevice created in the space.

The fragment of fog that had been seeking young Rukna’s life was also pulled into the main body.

As the fog that had been stuck to the child like a leech fell off, a piece of the child’s soul was torn, and that piece was also sucked into the crevice with the fog.

All that remained at the scene that had become quiet again were the shattered carriage, the brutally dead bodies of the Closet family, and the box.

Since the crevice into which the black fog disappeared had also returned to its original state, no one could notice that this was the work of a black magician.

The sight of the Golden Count and Countess running from afar after receiving the news was the last thing before all forms disappeared.

‘Is this the memory of this body.’

Perhaps because the tragic past was pitiful, tears kept flowing down her cheeks.

‘I had some expectations, but I didn’t know it had such a terrible past.’

It was probably because this body and herself shared a similar past of losing family that she missed the family she didn’t even remember.

Then someone tugged at the hem of her dress.

‘There’s no one but me in this space, who is it?’

Startled, she turned around to see the half-soul that had disappeared into the crevice had become a small child standing behind her.

‘This is…my childhood self, isn’t it?’
