I Possessed the Wicked Empress (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 3
Duke François plopped down onto the seat of honor without even a greeting and spoke in a crude, informal tone.
“Huh?”
Flustered by the duke’s manner of speech, Ermedilin frowned and glared at him.
“What’s this? Glaring at me? Have you forgotten your place, you—?”
‘You—? Even if he’s my father, how dare he speak like that to his daughter, who is Empress by title?’
The duke’s behavior was excessive—beyond what could even be considered normal for a father.
Now he was even smacking his lips, leering with a sinister gaze at the young maids.
Ermedilin had inherited her beauty from her father, so the duke was handsome as well—but the expression on his face was utterly repulsive.
‘Wow, even a pretty face can look that unpleasant. Even Grandpa Cha* would lose his appetite seeing that look.’
“So these are the new ones? They’re a bit better quality than last time.”
‘What’s he talking about? This crazy old man.’
She wanted nothing more than to throw him out immediately, but she had to put out the most urgent fire first.
“Father… I have something to say—”
“That one.”
Suddenly, the duke pointed at a maid with deep golden hair.
The pointed-out maid barely managed to lift her head and sent Ermedilin a desperate, pleading look.
Tears were already streaming from her eyes.
“Why that maid? Did she commit some offense?”
Ermedilin asked with a stiff, hardened expression.
The duke narrowed his eyes and glared back at her.
“Are you mad? That blonde one—I’m borrowing her. This time, I’ll send her back alive.”
“Your Majesty…”
She almost laughed out of sheer disbelief, but the despair on the maid’s face—singled out by the duke—was painfully vivid.
Ermedilin stepped between her father and the maid.
“Why would Your Grace borrow my servant? May I ask for a reason?”
The duke’s face, which had been wearing a distasteful smirk as he looked at the maid, instantly turned menacing.
“What’s gotten into you today? Have you really lost your mind? Fer—”
The duke started to say someone’s name but stopped himself.
“I don’t want to argue in front of these lowly creatures. I’ll take her with me when I leave…”
“No.”
Before the duke could even finish, Ermedilin gave a sharp, blade-like refusal.
“What?”
“I said no. Why do you take my people whenever you please? Why don’t you repay the money you borrowed from me first?”
The duke’s eyes bulged as if they might pop out at Ermedilin’s words.
He looked as if he’d just seen a ghost.
“Everyone out.”
Gritting his teeth, the furious duke shooed the maids away, his whole body trembling with rage.
Once the maids had left, he shot to his feet and grabbed Ermedilin by the collar.
“Has this madwoman really gone insane? Do you not care if Ferdant dies?”
‘Ferdant? Who’s that?’
It was a name never mentioned even once in the novel.
Surely, he couldn’t be an important character—if she didn’t even know who he was, why should she care what happened to him?
“No matter what happens to Ferdant, I must get my money back first. Repay what you owe.”
Despite having her collar gripped, Ermedilin looked up at him with a bold, unwavering gaze—and Duke François was seized by a strange sensation.
‘Am I dreaming right now? Is this woman really the Ermedilin I know?’
Yet, those uniquely vivid violet eyes—the privilege of those who wield dark magic—left no room to deny that the unfamiliar woman before him was indeed his daughter.
The duke released her collar and asked in a low voice,
“Why do you suddenly need money?”
“I have personal uses for it.”
“Hah? Personal? You—you have personal uses for it? If you really need money that badly, just do what you always do—brew illegal potions or flirt with your lovers to get it.”

Duke François stared at Ermedilin as if she were not his daughter but a piece of discarded trash.
“You’ve borrowed so much money already—why go through all that trouble? Just give it back. I’m tired of this.”
“Hah? So you’ve gone soft? Do you really want to see Ferdant die?”
‘Seriously, who even is that guy?’
“Do as you please. I must recover my money. It’s all recorded in detail in my ledger—if we go to court…”
Before Ermedilin could finish, the duke grabbed her by the hair.
He then pulled out a dagger and pressed it to her throat.
Startled, Ermedilin thrashed, and a small cut appeared on her pale neck.
“Aaah!!”
“Don’t be dramatic. Just call a priestess to heal it. I’d kill you right now if I could, but I’ll let it slide this once. You’re probably under a lot of pressure yourself. Now send the money immediately—by any means necessary, make sure the amount is exact. Understood?”
The cold, vivid sensation of metal against her throat left Ermedilin unable to utter a word.
She could only bite down hard on her teeth to keep from crying.
The duke seized Ermedilin’s hair and hurled her forcefully toward the wall, then stormed out the door with heavy, thunderous footsteps.
Thud! Ermedilin’s head struck the wall with a loud crash.
The moment the duke left, maids rushed in and screamed at the sight of her condition.
“Kyaaah!! Your Majesty!!”
“Call a priestess at once!!”
One of the maids dashed out in a panic to fetch the palace’s resident priestess.
“Your Majesty, are you all right?”
The maid whom Ermedilin had just shielded was sobbing uncontrollably, wrapping Ermedilin’s neck gently with her apron.
“The priestess will be here soon. Please hold on a little longer. It’s all because of someone like me that Your Majesty’s neck is injured…”
“How is this your fault?”
At Ermedilin’s question, the maid burst into even heavier tears, literally sobbing buckets.
“You protected me! The maids taken by the duke before were returned half-dead—some even died…”
‘Seriously? This man dared to take the Empress’s maids and kill them?’
If he could press a knife to his own daughter—the Empress—without hesitation, it was obvious how he’d treated the maids.
‘What kind of depraved monster takes barely grown teenage girls and does who-knows-what to them?’
The more she thought about it, the more her rage swelled—so much so that the pain in her neck nearly vanished.
Ermedilin raised her hand and gently wiped the maid’s tears.
“Don’t blame yourself for things that aren’t your fault. In life, there will be times when things truly go wrong because of your mistakes—but you shouldn’t blame yourself for things you didn’t do.”
Soon, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed—the priestess had arrived.
A dignified, middle-aged woman who looked quite mature.
The priestess, dragged in against her will by another maid, let out a shriek at the sight of bloodied Ermedilin.
“Hiiik!! What is this?!”
She immediately rushed over and began carefully examining Ermedilin’s neck.
“Surely not… from a blade…?”
“Yes.”
The priestess asked no further questions and healed Ermedilin’s neck.
A warm, brilliant light radiated from the kindly-looking priestess, and Ermedilin’s pain ceased.
“Your Majesty.”
The priestess called Ermedilin’s name in a solemn tone.
“??”
“You are aware that I do not favor an Empress who wields dark magic, correct?”
‘Ah, right. In the novel, the Church and the Empress were openly hostile toward each other.’
Ermedilin nodded silently.
“But no matter how much I dislike you, this is unacceptable. How can a father treat his own daughter’s body with such disregard?”
Seeing the priestess—who was usually at odds with her—wearing a genuinely pained expression as if she herself had suffered this injustice, it was clear this wasn’t the first time such a thing had happened.
‘Even knowing they’re villains’ family, I never expected it to be this utterly depraved.’
“Is it possible to legally punish him for this?”
‘You damn pervert. I won’t let you off easily!’

“Are you really asking that? He dared lay a blade on imperial blood. You should have taken this to court long ago—but haven’t you kept protecting him all this time?”
“Me?”
She hadn’t meant to say it aloud, but the words slipped out before she could stop them.
“Yes—you, Your Majesty. But why consider punishment all of a sudden?”
The priestess’s honey-colored eyes were filled with suspicion and wariness.
“What reason do I need? Isn’t it obvious? Because I simply can’t tolerate it any longer.”
At Ermedilin’s reply, a subtle expression flickered across the priestess’s face—
one that seemed both concerned and faintly mocking.
“If Your Majesty intends to formally pursue this matter, I will personally testify in court.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Not out of sympathy for you personally, but because the imperial family must remain the cornerstone and pinnacle of the Trivian Empire. Anyone who harms a member of the imperial bloodline must be punished under the strictest laws of the land.”
“Hearing you say that gives me peace of mind. And thank you—for healing me as well.”
Though she’d only offered a simple, human courtesy, the priestess’s face visibly wavered in shock.
“Did you just… thank me??”
“I did. Is that so strange?”
The priestess frowned slightly, then tilted her head in confusion.
“I understand for now. But as a servant of the Divine, I merely did what was right. There’s no need to thank me.”
Just how monstrous must the original Empress have been if even a basic “thank you” caused such surprise? Ermedilin began to worry how much common decency she needed to show to avoid raising suspicion.
“Your Majesty, are you all right?”
After the priestess left, the maids gathered around to check on Ermedilin.
“Oh… Yeah. I’m fine now. It doesn’t hurt.”
She lifted her chin slightly to show her clean, healed neck, and the maids let out a collective sigh of relief.
“Have I ever asked for your names before?”
After all, these were her closest attendants now.
This Empress must have been truly isolated—no lady-in-waiting had ever visited her.
‘It wouldn’t hurt to at least know their names.’
The maid with deep golden hair and brown eyes—the one Ermedilin had just protected—answered.
“No, Your Majesty has never asked for our names.”
“Really? I never even asked your names? Could you tell me, then?”
At Ermedilin’s request, the maids happily announced their names one by one.
The pretty girl with deep golden hair and brown eyes was Runi.
The plump girl with dark brown hair and green eyes was Margo.
The freckled, extremely thin girl with red hair and blue eyes, trembling in the back, was Helen.
“How long has each of you served me? I’d like to remember precisely.”
Nineteen-year-old Runi had served for six months; eighteen-year-old Margo for four months; and seventeen-year-old Helen had been there for barely two weeks.
For imperial maids, they were unusually young and had remarkably short tenures.
‘At least they haven’t endured that cruel Empress for long—that’s something to be grateful for. I’ll start by making them my allies.’
