I walked through the murky fog.

In the thick fog, where I couldn’t even distinguish what was the path.

Honestly, I couldn’t even tell if I was lost or simply wandering in search of something.

I just kept walking aimlessly.

Hyeyoung, that is, Ermedillin in her lifetime, had no memory of her parents.

It was because she had been abandoned as a newborn baby.

In the orphanage, children who had been nurtured by at least one parent before being admitted cried every day, calling for their mother or father.

I didn’t know why they were looking for parents who wouldn’t come no matter how loudly they called, but the sight of the crying children was enough to catch young Ermedillin’s interest.

“Why are you crying?”

“I want to see my mom. She said she would come after ten nights, but it’s been over twenty nights already.”

“Is it good to have a mom?”

“Of course. Having a mom is so nice. You don’t have a mom?”

The child asked without malice, but that question left a scar deep in Ermedillin’s soul.

“Yes. I don’t have one.”

After growing a bit, she thought it was better not to have any specific memories of her parents.

There was no concrete object to miss, so I didn’t even know what to be sad about.

Of course, she was envious of the children who came hand in hand with their mothers on picnics, but that was it.

Once the moment passed, it didn’t bother her much.

As more time passed, the threshold of adulthood.

When she stood alone in the world, she began to feel a bit of longing for the existence of parents.

Every time she saw friends talking about college entrance and future hopes, she wished there was someone to give her money unconditionally.

Most of the orphanage children longed for the concept of family itself.

So the children thrown into the world formed families and had children at an early age.

And the families formed only with hearts often didn’t end well.

Of course, there were those who formed happy families, but most ended in divorce or found it hard to live in the pictureperfect family they had dreamed of.

In the face of economic problems, longlasting desperation did not help at all.

So Ermedillin agreed with her boyfriend’s words to postpone marriage.

She wanted to form a family when she had a solid foundation and was ready to raise a child as much as anyone else.

“Family.”

A word that thrills her heart just thinking about it, but she’s been trying not to think about it.

Suddenly, she felt a cool breeze on her forehead.

“I felt this feeling a while ago, too?”

She didn’t remember exactly what situation it was, but Ermedillin, who hadn’t fully woken up from sleep, didn’t try to force herself to remember.

She was afraid of losing this pleasant chill, so she just closed her eyes and pretended to continue sleeping.

But just because you close your eyes doesn’t mean you can stop your consciousness from awakening.

Suddenly the murky fog blocking her sight lifted, and everything began to appear clearly.

“Family.”

A word she had turned away from but had always desperately missed.

When Ermedillin slowly opened her eyes, she saw Priest Ruiz looking at her with worried eyes, touching her forehead.

“That’s right. Someone tried to kill me last time.”

That time it was a complete stranger, but this time it was family.

Tears flowed from Ermedillin’s eyes, which she had struggled to open.

“Your Majesty! Are you conscious?”

Roonie, who had been watching her closely, jumped up and grabbed Ermedillin’s hand.

It’s warm.

A different temperature from the chill on her forehead, but the pleasant feeling is the same.
“Why is she like this? Where does it hurt?”

Loony looked at Louise with wide eyes, but Louise merely shook her head without understanding.

“There doesn’t seem to be any physical abnormalities. The curse was successfully reflected.”

‘Family.’

In Ermedillin’s mind, this sad word kept circling, no matter what others said around her.

Her heart hadn’t ached like this, not even when her newly found father swung his sword, not even when her entire family glared at her with bloodshot eyes of resentment in the courtroom.

Suddenly, sorrow swept over her.

‘My family hates me. My family wants to kill me.’

“Heeheeheehee … heeheehee … heeheehee …”

Loony and Louise, who were close by, as well as Anri and Pellio, were all startled by Ermedillin, who burst into tears like a child as soon as she opened her eyes.

“Gasp! Empress, calm down!”

Loony tried to calm Ermedillin by hopping around, but her crying didn’t stop for a while.

How much time had passed?

Ermedillin’s tears dried, and the trembling in her shoulders gradually disappeared.

Loony and Margo helped Ermedillin, who was trying to get up.

Slowly, very slowly, Ermedillin turned her gaze towards Anri.

“Where is Ferdant?”

It’s unimaginable.

Truly an unforeseen event.

Anri, who had made it a habit as the ruler of the empire to consider all possible situations that could arise at any time, had not anticipated this situation at all.

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
