Mercedes slowly opened her eyes. The sounds coming and going like flickering lights were quite harsh. Clunk, clunk, thud.

‘A carriage… perhaps.’

Was it because of some strange medicinal effect? Her body moved sluggishly, as if it were naturally so. Her condition was far from good.

Moreover, a gag filled her mouth, and a blindfold covered her eyes.
