With that lovely face, as if she had killed him herself, with that radiant smile, as if she had driven her own sister into ruin……

“I must give you and them hell. Only then will my injustice feel less unbearable.”

Sesenia, fiddling with the necklace around her neck, forced herself to calm down and quickened her pace.

“Let’s hurry to Father. He hates it when we’re late.”

“Even if we’re late, just act a little cute with Father. Men always love that.”

Elzer was always like this—claiming that even if she did something wrong, a little coquetry would make any man adore her, insisting there wasn’t a single man immune to such tricks.

‘He must have charmed the Emperor the same way.’

“Really?”

“Sesenia, your problem is you have no coquetry at all. Why do you make life so difficult for yourself? If you just do it this way, everyone will do exactly as you wish.”

“Sister.”

“Hmm?”

“I hate how you try to brush everything off carelessly like that. I really hate how you smooth over every little thing the same way. And don’t even think everyone bends to your will.”

Sesenia’s instinct burst out before she could hold it back.

‘I know perfectly well this isn’t the same person. Maybe this is just me being petty about what I’ve endured. Yet my heart keeps twisting in bitterness.’

Realizing she’d said something she immediately regretted, Sesenia hurried to change the subject—but Elzer clicked her tongue with a bored expression.

“Sorry, I just—”

“That’s exactly why you’re so unpopular.”

“Huh?”

“If you live like this, no one will ever want to marry you. You’re my sister, but honestly, your life is dreadfully dull. Be careful. Right now, the Crown Prince insists on maintaining the engagement to tie our house to the throne somehow… but he might get tired of your attitude and cancel it.”

Only now did Sesenia realize her elder sister had been openly looking down on her. Not just that woman she’d encountered, but Elzer herself had been belittling her since they were very young.

Sesenia, who had once believed this was merely Elzer’s unique way of showing love, now even doubted whether this woman might actually be the very one who had killed her.

‘So this is just her true nature after all. Honestly… you’re practically handing me the perfect opportunity to take revenge so easily, Sister.’

A faint, icy smile curled at the corners of Sesenia’s lips—unnaturally cold.

“I actually think my life is plenty interesting.”

“What?”

“My life—I find it quite interesting enough.”

Whether it was because Sesenia, unlike usual, dared contradict her, Elzer’s face hardened.

“Sesenia, you’re unusually stubborn today. You almost seem like a different person.”

“That’s impossible. I’m simply saying what I feel. Now, let’s hurry to Father.”

Frustration visibly washed over Elzer—annoyed that Sesenia wouldn’t comply—so she pressed her lips tightly shut. Instead, she released Sesenia’s arm and briskly headed toward their father’s room.

In Sesenia’s memory, her sister had always been kind and wonderful—someone who would do anything for her. But only now did she realize just how wrong her memories had been.

How could anyone possibly see that person as good, no matter how charitably they tried? Or had Elzer truly changed from who she once was?

Sesenia stared for a long while at Elzer, who had walked ahead.

“Miss, aren’t you coming?”

It was Lizbet urging her forward. Standing half a step behind with a worried expression, Lizbet gently prompted her.

“Oh… yes, I should go.”

“Don’t take Miss Elzer’s words too much to heart. She’s always been the type who won’t rest until things go precisely her way.”

“Is that so?”

Sesenia’s gaze naturally turned toward Lizbet.

“When things go her way, she’s an angel—but the moment they don’t, she says the harshest things. Please don’t let it hurt you too deeply.”

“Mm.”

Only then did Sesenia remember: after hearing Lizbet’s words, she finally understood why Elzer had remained such a kind figure in her memory. She had always been such an obedient little sister, rarely clashing with Elzer at all.

Elzer had seemed exceptionally wonderful to Sesenia. After their mother passed away when they were young, Elzer had been everything to her—mother, sister, friend, and the person she trusted most.

‘But in truth, it wasn’t like that at all.’

It was almost laughable. Come to think of it, Elzer had often caused scenes with the servants—over trivial matters like an unprepared dress or her preferred tea not being ready.

Suddenly, that memory resurfaced.

‘Sister, you weren’t exactly a good person yourself. Not really angelic at all.’

If Elzer had genuinely possessed an angelic nature—if the person everyone knew reflected her true self—she wouldn’t have been shameless enough to kill her own sister just to fulfill her ambitions.

Finding the situation far more entertaining than expected, Sesenia clicked her tongue and resumed walking.

‘Well, I’m turning into a demon myself now, aren’t I? How fitting—a pair of sisters with utterly ruined personalities.’

“This should be fun.”

“Pardon?”

Lizbet, standing beside her, looked at Sesenia with astonished eyes.

“Nothing. Let’s hurry.”

Sesenia resolved to don a mask.

Over and over, she conditioned herself—to appear not as her true 25-year-old self, world-weary and hardened by life, but as the innocent 20-year-old Sesenia who knew nothing of the world’s cruelties.

‘I am… twenty years old.’

**

“Father, I apologize for being late.”

Elzer, who had entered the Marquis’s room first, clung snugly to his side and smiled as she watched Sesenia enter.

“You should have come earlier. How can you keep your father waiting?”

“Yes, Sesenia. From now on, be more prompt. Try to take after your sister.”

“Yes.”

“In any case, now that you’re both here, I have something to discuss. I have only you two as my children, and I’ve been pondering to whom I should entrust our house. Now that Sesenia has come of age.”

So this was the day.

“Normally, it should go to your elder sister. After all, Elzer is the firstborn. You won’t mind, will you, Sesenia?”

This must have been the moment when Sesenia, true to her convictions, had spoken her mind.

‘But if I act as I did in the past at this very moment, I’ll likely be killed by Elzer again. In her mind, the house already belongs solely to her. Then I have no reason to save this house at all. What I need is something that belongs to me alone. What happens to the house is none of my concern.’

Sesenia’s eyes shifted toward Elzer, who sat perched on the armrest beside the Marquis, leaning eagerly against their father.

Her previously stiff expression brightened.

“Yes, of course. It’s only right that it goes to Sister.”

In the past, Sesenia had declared at this very gathering that she wished to inherit the house. But the Marquis had been resolute, insisting that a girl freshly come of age couldn’t possibly manage a marquisate. He had summoned her merely to announce his decision.

All to give everything to his favored child, Elzer.

Sesenia hadn’t inherited the Marquisate because she’d spoken her mind here. She’d inherited it only after rebuilding the hollow, money-draining estate into something respectable—despite its glittering facade.

Even then, their father—the Marquis—had still tried to hand over everything she’d rebuilt to Elzer. But Elzer, declaring such burdensome duties utterly tiresome, had shoved the house onto her younger sister.

‘And then, once the house prospered, she had the nerve to claim it as her own.’

Remembering how Elzer, right before her death in prison, had bluntly confessed her true feelings, Sesenia slowly nodded.

‘Go ahead. Take it and do as you please. Unlike in the past, I’ll never be the one to rebuild this house again.’

“Huh? Oh, yes, of course, Sesenia. Now that you’re of age, you seem to have finally come to your senses. You’ve always been rather eager for this position.”

“I know my place. You may pass the house to Sister. That’s only right.”

In the past, burdened by the Marquisate entrusted to her by their father, Elzer had quickly grown weary of it. She’d dumped everything onto Sesenia and spent her days idling about.

“Yes, then let’s settle it that way. Elzer, is that alright with you?”

“Yes! If that’s Father’s wish, I’ll do my best!”

Tilting her head slightly and smiling sweetly, Elzer drew a broad, delighted grin across the Marquis’s face.

The Marquis had never treated his two daughters equally.

‘You’re still exactly the same, Father.’

The sisters presented a stark contrast—like black and white. Sesenia, with her black hair and crimson eyes, resembled the Marquis. Elzer, her elder sister, bore brown hair and soft violet eyes.

Elzer looked just like their late mother, the Marquis’s wife.

To the Marquis, his late wife had been his first and last love. Thus, he favored Elzer, who so closely resembled her. And because Elzer had been frail and often unwell since childhood, the Marquis had always been flustered and doting whenever near her.

Knowing this, Sesenia had still drawn strength from those rare words her father occasionally offered her: “I trust you.”

She had convinced herself he wasn’t showing favoritism—that he simply paid more attention to Elzer because of her poor health. She had to believe that; otherwise, she’d drown in her own misery… so she armored herself with that belief.

Her refusal to show emotion, her inability to trust anyone except her childhood friends Ian and Lizbet—it all stemmed from the Marquis. She had to be strong. Only then could she earn even a sliver of his affection.

Meanwhile, a private world seemed to have formed between Elzer and the Marquis.

“Yes, yes. Your father will support you as much as he can. Give it a try.”

“Yes!”

Sesenia watched the two of them, lost in their own little world, smiling warmly—then she smoothly interjected at the right moment.

“I have one request, however.”

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
