I Just Raised Men for Revenge (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 14
“Big trouble? Why? Did Teddy run away from home or something?”
“No, no, it’s not that… it’s just… it’s just… someone else has started buying Hepfria cotton!”
“Huh?”
Sesenia tilted her head, staring at her. What on earth was she talking about? Hepfria cotton was an almost unsellable commodity—who on earth would buy it?
“Really…?”
Was there someone else who’d read the market? In the past, no one except Sesenia had ever purchased Hepfria cotton. People had even mocked her for buying it. And yet now, someone else was purchasing it.
‘Has something truly begun to change from the past?’
“But the person who bought it… the one who bought it…”
Lizbet, gasping for breath, shook her head.
“It was Miss Elzer.”
“…What? Older Sister?”
“Yes. She suddenly started buying it up three days ago.”
“Why?”
The word slipped out before she could stop it. There had never been anything like this in the past.
“I don’t know… but apparently, she bought up every last bit of cotton that Miss couldn’t get her hands on in the market.”
How could this even happen? Was Elzer really that clever? In the past, Elzer had mocked Sesenia for buying Hepfria cotton, calling it foolish when she clung to their father’s side. And now she was buying it herself?
‘Is she setting her sights on my business?’
But that didn’t make sense. To everyone else—in fact, to every merchant in the Empire—Sesenia’s purchase of Hepfria cotton had been nothing but a laughingstock.
‘No, she couldn’t possibly be that smart. Unless… is she trying to corner me?’
Either way, she had to meet Elzer.
“Where’s Older Sister?”
“In her room.”
Sesenia stepped out of her room, sensing that something was terribly wrong.
‘I thought everything was moving exactly as I’d planned—but was that all just so I’d end up facing this absurdity?’
Her steps grew even quicker than before. It must just be a coincidence, she told herself as she reached Elzer’s room.
“Miss Sesenia.”
“Please let Older Sister know I’m here to see her.”
“Yes.”
The maid standing by the door knocked without much expression.
“Miss, Miss Sesenia requests an audience.”
“Tell her to come in.”
An unusually bright voice. The moment the door opened, Sesenia entered. Elzer, leisurely having her nails cared for, smiled and waved.
“What brings you all the way to my room?”
“I have something I want to ask.”
At those words, Elzer raised her hand. Immediately, the maid who’d been tending to her nails—and everyone else in the room—left.
“What do you want to ask?”
“Did you buy it just to copy me, Older Sister?”
“Buy what?”
“Hepfria cotton.”
At that, Elzer grinned and clapped her hands.
“So the rumors have already spread that far.”
“So you did buy it just to copy me?”
“Copy you? I simply read the currents. You’ve always had that problem—you think you’re the smartest person in the world and that no one else matters.”
“…So you just read the market and bought it?”
“Yes. What’s wrong with that? There’s no rule saying only you can buy it, is there?”
She seemed like a completely different person. Even her eyes were different. Elzer’s gaze, once lost in delusional dreams, now shone with sharp clarity.
“…I suppose you’re right.”
“What’s wrong? Feeling like it’s been stolen from you?”
“…”
“You acted so confident you’d win, but now you’re worried? You came rushing to see me this quickly, after all.”
Elzer, gazing at her well-manicured nails, stood up and patted Sesenia on the shoulder.
“But what can you do? In the end, business is all about money. I’ll buy far more than you ever could. So naturally, I’ll be the one to win.”
“…”
“Not just this—I’ll take everything you’re doing. So don’t go thinking the Marquisate will become yours just because of something like this.”
“…What?”
“You’re still thinking about it, aren’t you? That you’ll hit it big with this and gain Father’s approval to make the Marquisate yours. But it won’t work this time.”
Sesenia’s head spun for a moment.
“This time?”
“Yes. This time.”
Her suspicion about Elzer hadn’t been mistaken. Elzer had already anticipated that Sesenia would gain the Marquisate through this venture. The question immediately followed: how?
“Don’t tell me…”
“Hm?”
“…You. Older Sister—you.”
Seeing Elzer tilt her head in confusion, Sesenia’s expression hardened.
“You… you know everything, don’t you?”
“Know what?”
“You know everything that’s going to happen, don’t you?”
“Of course. I’m smart, unlike you. You can’t beat me.”
Sesenia had clearly declared she would give up the Marquisate. Yet the fact that Elzer still assumed she intended to claim it meant only one thing—Elzer knew the future.
She already knew that through this venture—by using Hepfria cotton to prepare for the sudden, unprecedented winter cold that no one else foresaw—Sesenia would strike business gold, earn their father’s approval, and claim the Marquisate for herself.
And there was something uncanny about Elzer’s words.
“…You… came back, didn’t you?”
It was just a question. But the strange feeling wouldn’t leave her—the sense that Elzer knew these things not simply because she was clever, but for some other reason.
Elzer’s expression froze instantly.
“Came back? W-what are you talking about?”
Elzer, who had been smirking a moment ago, forced her expression to harden as she stared at Sesenia.
To anyone watching, her face and actions looked deeply suspicious.
“You mean—did you come back through time?”
Normally, anyone asked that would laugh it off as madness. The Elzer Sesenia remembered would have surely sneered, “Have you finally gone insane?”
But Elzer’s reaction was different.
“…”
She said nothing.
Only then did Sesenia understand—why Elzer had suddenly started buying Hepfria cotton, and why she spoke with such confidence.
‘She knows the future.’
Every unexplained detail suddenly made perfect sense under that single assumption.
“You’re right. You… you came back too. You…”
“Don’t tell me—you came back as well?”
Finally, Elzer spoke. Her face had gone deathly pale as she stared at Sesenia.
“This is… this is really interesting. Elzer. Why? Why did you come back?”
“…”
Elzer remained silent in response to Sesenia’s question.
“Tell me. You killed me before—you should have just lived well. Then why, why did you come back? Tell me. Did you come back just to torment me again?”
“Stop talking nonsense and leave.”
“Don’t even think about denying it now. That’s why it felt so strange. There’s no way you—Older Sister—would buy Hepfria cotton. You never had any business sense to begin with. You wouldn’t even think to copy me… so the only reason you suddenly started buying cotton is that you know the future.”
Sesenia couldn’t help but laugh.
“So in the end, all you can do by coming back in time is blindly imitate what I did in the past? I guess you can’t beat me any other way, huh?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll win everything in the end. You’re not the only one who knows the future, Sesenia. You’ll die by my hand again. If you don’t want that, just quietly lock yourself in your room and stay there. Out of pity, I might even let you live.”
“You must be awfully anxious. Your words are getting long, Older Sister. But if you’ve truly come back through time… doesn’t that mean you died too?”
The corners of Sesenia’s mouth twitched involuntarily.
“W-what…?”
“Of course. If you’d truly been happy and thriving there… there’d be no reason for you to return here, would there?”
In truth, Sesenia had returned because of her family’s curse.
‘But Elzer wouldn’t have come back for that reason.’
Elzer, who should have been happier than anyone there, wouldn’t have wished for her own death just to return to this time.
‘Something’s off.’
If death simply sent you back in time, that theory wouldn’t hold water. If that were true, her family would have endlessly looped through time and become the most prosperous lineage of all.
‘Then what is it? Is there some other trigger condition for returning?’
She couldn’t figure it out now, but one conclusion was clear: Elzer had regressed, just like her. That alone was enough.
A broad smile spread across Sesenia’s face. She actually felt grateful. Even the faintest twinge of guilt she’d felt vanished completely.
After all, the person from the future and the one standing before her were different people. Her earlier worry—whether it was right to be cruel to this version of Elzer—disappeared in an instant.
“You’re right. Our Older Sister really did die. How pitiful. You went so far as to kill your own younger sister, even framing her for crimes she didn’t commit—you should have just lived well… why did you die?”
Sesenia patted Elzer on the shoulder. Whether it displeased her or not, Elzer roughly brushed Sesenia’s hand away.
“What are you doing!”
“What do you mean, ‘what am I doing’? I’m comforting you. You should have just lived well. Coming back after dying like this is just pathetic.”
“Don’t. I feel sorrier for you. If I’d just stayed the old Elzer, I would’ve lost everything—but now that I know the future, I’ll take everything that’s yours.”
“Then it’ll be even more fun. Go ahead, Elzer. Give it your best shot. Let’s see who truly becomes the victor.”
“…”
“This time, don’t go dying or anything—do your best. Let’s see who can craft the more perfect future. And while you’re at it, do try your best with Prince Ian, who loves Older Sister so much! Fighting! You can do it! Aja aja!”
She even clenched her fist tightly and waved. At that gesture, Elzer’s face flushed red with barely contained rage.
“Then I’ll be off. Do try your best—earnestly following in the footsteps of everything I did in the past.”
With that, Sesenia turned and walked out of the room.
‘How interesting.’
She’d never imagined Elzer might have returned too.
‘But all you do after coming back is repeat what Sesenia did in the past. You still have no mind of your own. What a foolish woman.’

Synopsis
During a voyage at sea, Jiang Yang accidentally captures a merman.
Servant: I heard that mermen are fierce and brutal.
Jiang Yang looks at the merman obediently rubbing her palm like a puppy: “You call this fierce and brutal?”
Servant: I heard that mermen have no human nature.
Jiang Yang looks at the merman with wet puppy eyes, obsessively calling her ‘A Yang’ like a childish infant: “You call this having no human nature?”
With great difficulty, she releases the merman back into the sea and returns to shore.
Who would have thought that in less than half a month, the merman, who should have been freely wandering in the South China Sea, would shed his scales, endure the pain of losing his tail, transform into human legs, and come ashore to find her?
He kneels at her feet, rubbing her palm, with merman tears rolling down: “A Yang, don’t abandon me.”
