As if understanding Elicia’s words, Sho let out a cry—almost as though asking, “Why?”

“Illeon must be disappointed in me.”

She retraced the image of Rona that surfaced in her memory.

Unlike herself, Rona never choked on the dread of dying day by day, nor was she consumed by anxiety.
