Mariela reached out to grab the prophecy book as it scattered into the air like ash, but it was futile.

Her hand sliced through empty space, accomplishing nothing.

There were only a few pages of the ending left.

The final page, which she had hoped would alter the bleak and sorrowful fate—like the dawn illuminating the world or the slender beam of a lighthouse piercing the night sea—lost its light and crumbled away.

“No! Oh, no!”

Mariela flailed about as if desperate to salvage even a corner fragment of it.

In the stunned silence that followed, as everyone froze in shock too surprised to even utter a sound, the torn pages that had once been the prophecy book vanished completely.

Mariela stood frozen with her hand still outstretched, as though turned to stone.

But soon, she let out a scream as if having a fit.

“Aaaargh!”

“Mariela!”

Jillian grabbed her as she choked and gasped, unable to breathe properly, nearly toppling backward.

The prophecy book was gone.
