“You should attend the funeral, Your Highness.”

“A funeral? Which family?”

Illeon asked indifferently, and Bernard sighed.

“It’s the Duke of Uter.”

“The Duke of Uter? Isn’t the Duke of Uter still young?”

“It seems that it’s not the Duke, but his daughter, who has suddenly died.”

“Hmm. I see.”

Bernard glanced at his master, who was focused on his work.

“The Duke’s family is one of only two in the empire. Even though you are busy, it would be best to go yourself.”

“Is His Majesty the Emperor also planning to attend?”

The competent butler quickly replied.

“That’s what the young lady said. There are rumors that she lost her life due to the Prince’s misbehavior.”

“What?”

“So it seems that the Emperor and Empress are both planning to attend the funeral of the Duke’s only daughter, even though she’s not in line for succession.”

“Only?”

“The Duke and Duchess of Uter were so shocked that they put up their estate and city residence for sale even before holding their daughter’s funeral.”

Illeon finally looked up from his documents. It was nothing short of a protest against the royal family by one of the founding legends of the Duke’s family. It had piqued his interest at last.

“Is that so? Soon there will be only one ducal family in the empire.”

The relationship between the Clevent Grand Duke’s family and the Duke of Uter’s family had never been close.

In the past, the Duke of Uter’s family was certainly at the center of noble politics, and the long period had blended into it. Now the head, Julian Uter, had no interest in politics and had a reclusive personality that leaned towards the eccentric. He rarely attended social gatherings, as he stayed cooped up in his mansion.

The center of power had long since shifted to the rising nobles, who were adept in science, technology, investment, and management.

To Illeon, who had the princess as his mother, this was not a significant concern.

“It’s noisy in the capital. I want to return to the front lines as soon as possible.”

“You say that! Haven’t your eyes just recovered?”

When the butler, who was his personal attendant, jumped up, Illeon raised the corner of his mouth in jest.

“…How worried Yang would be? How much effort was put in to heal your eyes, Your Highness?”

“That’s true.”

He answered naturally and then Illeon felt strange for a moment.

How did I recover my eyes?

Who fixed my eyes?

That part was blurred as if something had erased it.

“I’ll prepare the carriage. Please change your clothes quickly.”

The butler hurriedly left after finishing his words.

Illeon signed the rest of the documents, feeling a subtle emotion.

The funeral was held north of the Imperial Palace, facing the wall of the sacred place, Hadunsha.

Illeon looked around the unfamiliar place where he set foot for the first time.

Overall, it used white stone and was decorated with evergreen oaks, making it look nice even in the chilly winter. But since the deceased was not an old person who had lived enough, but a young lady, a heavy atmosphere enveloped Hadunsha.

The weight of death.

To him, who had reaped countless lives on the battlefield, a funeral was not a new thing.

Looking at the lavishly flowerdecorated funeral, he remembered the subordinates who were barely buried and returned from the scorching desert or frozen tundra. At other people’s funerals, he remembered the funerals of those he knew.

“Your Highness, the Grand Duke.”

The butler handed me a golden rose. It was his turn to mourn.

Wearing a black uniform and approaching the coffin placed on the altar, Illeon smirked for a moment.

Because of his attire, Illeon looked like a bloodthirsty beast, the god of the battlefield.

Many nobles had already gone, and young lady’s coffin was already overflowing with golden flower buds. Illeon stuck a golden rose into a gap to add a penny to the excessive dowry.

When he stood up, he finally saw the owner of the funeral inside.

She was a very beautiful woman.
However, between the black lace that reached her neck and the sleeves that extended to her wrists, a strange mark was visible.

It looked as if her neck had been strangled and her wrists had been tied with a rope.

Her pale face looked comfortable, more like a sleeping person than one who had met death.

Illeon’s eyes widened as he watched her.

…Dead? Elysia?

It can’t be.

“I won’t go anywhere.”

Elysia had promised not to leave him.

“I’ll do anything for you, Illeon.”

“Anything you want.”

She had pledged over and over that she would do anything he desired.

But now she had left this world.

(This is a time separator.)

“Huh. Huh.”

Illeon’s eyes scanned the bed.

Gone. She’s gone. Elysia was gone again.

“Elysia!”

As he was about to kick the bed and rise, shouting,

Thump.

“Lord Illeon.”

The bedroom door opened, and Elysia, with wide eyes, hurriedly approached him.

“Are you alright?”

He hastily embraced Elysia. It was too horrible to bear.

Elysia, who had looked at him with a surprised face, soon stroked his head and shoulders as if to comfort him.

“Why are you so startled? Look at your sweat.”

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
