Mariela looked a bit tense.

Seeing such a mother, Elescia barely held back the laughter that was about to burst out.

Even now, after going through such extraordinary events, does she still have secrets that Elescia doesn’t know?
Wondering if there is something astonishing she doesn’t know? That’s what I thought.

However, even then, just like when Iris spoke a little while ago, Mariela’s smile vanished from her face when she heard Mariela’s words.

“In fact, the ship you were on sank.”

“…What?”

When Elescia first heard those words, she doubted her ears.

The ship sank.

And then, the immediate thought that came to her mind was, is it because of her and Illeon? Her chest sank a little.

Did Illeon crash into a large passenger ship to pick her up? Of course, he approached with reduced speed, and compared to the ship rocking from the impact when he swept the stern obliquely, the passenger ship had no damage, and she had seen that well. Nevertheless, she was surprised on the off chance.

“Is it because of me?”

Her voice trembled as she asked Mariela.

“Illeon crashed into the ship to pick me up…”

“No, no. Elescia.”

Mariela, who couldn’t answer right away, raised her head belatedly.

“Sonatek changed the original again.”

What followed afterward was an unbelievably absurd story.

It turned out that Mariela had been watching her all along, and it was a trap in itself.

Sonatek had no intention of watching Mariela and Elescia go outside the original.

It was already confirmed that the ship had departed, and Elescia was on that ship, so he modified the original, saying that the ship would sink.

Wouldn’t there be no way to overcome his absolute power by then?

If he said something like a earthquake occurred in the capital today, or if he said that Haedumsha began to collapse, and after Elescia was crushed by a large stone pillar, he made modifications, wouldn’t that be enough?

Elescia felt the fear vividly, and Mariela hugged her, soothing her.

“He can’t make modifications so often.”

That wasn’t true. Hadn’t he made modifications several times recently?

“That’s not his originally possessed power. He can’t use it that much. Maybe once or twice in the future.”

“…Will we die?”

In Elescia’s terrified voice, Mariela firmly replied.

“No, we won’t. He wants to ascend to the divine throne. He can’t use all that power for mere revenge.”

Even with Mariela’s comforting words, Elescia found it hard to escape from the chilly fear that had enveloped her for a long time.

Seeing the darkened expression on Elescia’s face, Iris apologized.

“Sorry. I… I’m just… so happy to see you like this. So, I just…”

“It’s okay, Iris.”

How can she repay the value of the lives of many people who were on that ship?

Elescia recalled the lovers who shared a tender kiss at the bow just before Illeon came to find her.

Those things that Sonatek had buried under the cold seawater.
As he recalled the pitiful lives deemed insignificant, he ignited a rage within himself, vowing to repay him someday.

“I’m a bit tired. I want to rest.”

“Yes, yes, miss. I’ve always kept this room clean. You can lie on the bed right away.”

While Iris repeatedly mentioned the miraculous return of Elescia to this room, it was the real Elescia’s last appearance that Iris remembered before the accident in Glerosa.

As Elescia left the room, a sigh escaped her.

“I’m scared.”

Elescia huddled her cooled back, wrapping her arms around herself.

Her chest was filled with fear as if she couldn’t do anything to resist Sonatek.

If only she wasn’t alone at a time like this.

Thinking about the spacious and warm embrace that would have held her tightly until her uneasy feelings faded, Elescia’s heart ached.

How should she talk to Illeon?

What’s next? What should she do next?

Although the thoughts were frustrating and stifling, thinking about Illeon made her miss him so much.

“Ah.”

Elescia took a long breath and lay on the bed.

“Anyway, you’re back.”

The task at hand was to take out the prophecy. If she focused on what she had to do, other paths might become clear.

Elescia tried hard to sleep.

But was it because she had gotten used to Illeon’s body temperature?

It was too cold to sleep all night.

Someone knocked on the neat wooden door of the priest’s residence.

Tap, tap.

Elescia, who rarely opened a prayer book, lifted her head.

“Yes, what is it?”

“Miss Elescia. A believer who wants to see the high priest has come. What should we do?”

“Now?”

It had been barely half a day since she returned to the temple. There was no way the news of her return had spread outside. With doubts, Elescia tidied up her place and stood up.

“Please guide me to the prayer room.”

“Yes.”

Elescia calmly dressed and headed to the prayer room.

It was not uncommon for believers attending the prayer meeting to request personal meetings.

Although the temple was a gathering of possessed individuals, externally, it took on the appearance of a religious organization, so it was a basic duty to grant such requests.

Because the large donations and sponsorship funds to maintain Haedumsha came from the faith of the people of the Constance Empire. There was never a refusal of a meeting request.

As Elescia stepped into the prayer room, she stopped in her tracks.

“May the blessings of the Five and the Oder be with you.”

The person she saw in that place was very different from what she expected.

A man with a tall figure, adorned in a splendid uniform with gold decorations that dazzlingly suited him.

Under the silky hair, jewel-like crimson eyes were fixed on her.

Once the priest who led her to the prayer room disappeared, Illeon embraced her in that spot.

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
