At Mercian’s question, Luan suddenly wore a cold expression, clenched his fist tightly, and muttered,

“Today, as I walked into the shop, it struck me—what if among all the men inside the store, even just one of them won your heart? Could I truly manage to separate him from you completely?”

“Luan! What on earth do you mean by that!”

Ignoring Mercian’s question, Luan continued muttering to himself,

“But no matter how much I thought about it, I couldn’t find a solution. None of them have done anything to break your trust or faith in them the way I have. So, as childish and petty as it sounds, I have no choice. I’ve decided to use my last resort.”

“You did say that.”

Watching Mercian gaze at him with bewildered eyes, Luan grasped her hand firmly and said,

“In truth, before I met you, I wasn’t particularly attached to life. I only helped eliminate the Crown Prince because it seemed decent enough—to clear away at least one piece of trash before I died.”

“So what?”

“Therefore, you must take responsibility for me.”

At Luan’s words, Mercian wore a baffled expression.
