Mercian looked at the flare Cat had left behind, stared at it for a moment, then pulled the string.

“Ed?”

“Yes, my lady. Did you call for me?”

“Do we have any shops operated by our house in the city?”

At Mercian’s question, Edward paused briefly in thought, then nodded.

“Yes, we do. As far as I know, there are about ten stores in the city registered under our trading company’s name.”

Ten stores?

Mercian, who had never shown any interest in the trading company’s affairs, fell into momentary thought at Edward’s reply.

“Are all those stores operated directly by our company?”

“No. Although all are registered under our company’s name, only five are directly opened and operated by us, while the rest are leased out.”

Leased out?

Then there might be vacant stores available.

“Ed, is there perhaps an empty store among them right now?”

“If you mean a vacant store, there’s currently one whose lease ends at the end of this month. I heard the owner has to move to the countryside and won’t be renewing the contract. He plans to list it with the real estate agency within the next day or two.”
