I Had the Enemy's Baby (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 23
“There’s no way to hunt it down right now.”
When the butler shook his head as if the idea were absurd, Kai An flared up.
“How dare you speak of impossibilities in front of me?”
To the people of Rowen, he was like a living god.
“Find it.”
“My lord.”
“Find it by any means necessary.”
The doctor fidgeted anxiously, clearly troubled.
“Even if we wanted to administer medicine, there’s always an appropriate window for treatment.”
“Are you trying to tell me it’s already too late to cure her? That you’ve been tending to my people—my subjects within my own castle—with such half-hearted resolve?”
“N-no! Absolutely not!”
In truth, though Clodel had sometimes felt intimidated or cowed by Kai An’s tone, he had never actually spoken harshly to her.
The young lord was sharp-tongued and perpetually irritable, yet never openly cruel.
A few elderly women pitied him, saying it was only understandable—he’d lost both parents suddenly, inherited the title, and been thrust straight into war. The rest admired even this aspect of his temperament, praising him with, “Truly, this is our lord.”
Regardless, the doctor now feared that if he failed to procure the medicine or cure Clodel, he might be driven out of the lord’s castle altogether.
