However, Kaian never really paid her much attention or spent private time with her, except for a few times she hid in his room but was sent back home more gently due to being a relative.

Even that was boasted by Antoine among the maidens of the territory as special treatment by Kaian, though he ignored it.

Her bragging somewhat reduced the disruptions to his sleep from bedroom attacks.

Faced with Antoine’s resentful gaze, Kaian raised an eyebrow.

“What’s this about? What are you doing?”

She was his distant cousin and part of the branch family. Though her mother was a Berang, Antoine took pride in being half Temnes.

“Lord, there is no woman who loves you more than I do. Ever since I could barely walk, I have loved only you. This is unacceptable.”

“Seems there’s no end to the liberties you take when I’m lenient.”

His stern look seemed too much for the young lady, filled with naive romantic feelings.

“Are you unhappy with my marriage? Go and complain to King Oberon yourself.”

Ignoring Antoine, he walked away, then turned back briefly.

“Don’t show your face before me again. My patience for Temnes blood ends here.”

As Kaian and his guards disappeared, Antoine collapsed, drained of energy.

Then, girls of her age who had been hiding behind a pillar watching Antoine’s confrontation came rushing to her side.

“You did well, Antoine. You spoke up, now Lord Kaian will surely remember you.”

“We couldn’t even dare, but you’re truly amazing, Antoine.”

Surrounded by praise, Antoine, wiping her tear-stained eyes with her sleeve, soon regained her haughty demeanor.

“It’s unbelievable. That filthy Bermonte crawling into His Lordship’s bed.”
“Strictly speaking, it was Kaian who entered the bedroom of the Bermonte-born wife, but none of the maids who overheard the story corrected it.

“It would have been nice if Antoine had become the Duchess.”

“Yes, she said she’d often hold balls in the castle for us.”

“And she said she’d invite the handsome knights of the knight order to the castle.”

Sighs and complaints of the young ladies who had just come of age filled the corridor.

But the one most engulfed in sighs and dissatisfaction was Antoine herself.

Yesterday’s celebration was an event for the Temnes relatives.

Antoine had cried from morning till dusk, so no one from the Berang family could attend yesterday’s banquet at the Loewen Castle.

The exceptionally beautiful girl, who was pampered since childhood, was so headstrong that she insisted on attending today’s feast for the vassals, even though it was.

Watching Kaian seated at the high table from afar, Antoine felt bitterness rising within her.

‘Ah, my Kaian. Have you spent the night under the witch’s wicked scheme of the icy land?’

Kaian, who had never even touched her, was believed in her one-sided affection to be deeply in love with her but acting coldly due to the presence of others.

“Miss Antoine.”

A maid timidly called out to her.

“Did you bring what I asked for?”

“Yes, here it is.”

The maid pulled out a small box the size of a fist from under her apron.

“You got rid of all the flowers, right?”

“Of course. I put them all in the kitchen incinerator.”

A maid from Loewen Castle looked at Antoine with admiring eyes, her black hair reminiscent of the Temnes.

“How dare the Lord have a Bermonte redhead clinging to him. It’s absolutely unacceptable. If there’s anything about that woman in the future, please call me. Miss Antoine.”

“Thank you. I’ll remember you when I become the Duchess.”

“Thank you.”

Antoine took out the blue diamond ring from the box and slipped it onto her finger.

“Let’s call it a day and go back.”

Her followers, boasting triumphantly, disappeared down the corridor.

The Duke of Bermonte, who had been cursing Temnes, suddenly wore a magnanimous smile.

“I will never forget the great favor the Duke has bestowed upon me.”

“Now, our Temnes and Bermonte are practically family, aren’t we?”

“That’s right. The first Temnes Duke to bring good governance to our Balmond land will be Duke Kaian.”

“What an honor.”

Despite the warm conversation, the look in their eyes was as if they were ready to tear each other apart at any moment.

In the midst of this, Clodel stood silently like a decorative piece.

Thirty wagons full of grain lined up and headed north.

In Balmond, it was certain that instead of Temnes’ assistance making a name, praises of the great Lord Bermonte would spread, and Clodel could bet her own hair on it.

“It was quite a meaningful item for me. Didn’t you like the gift?”

Kaian’s question came abruptly and unexpectedly.

“Or was it that I wasn’t good enough?”

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
