Not lying in a dark, forgotten tomb beneath a castle, but here, enjoying flowers and tea under the brilliant sunlight.

And Kyan, cold but seemingly different from what he appeared.

“Thank you.”

Clodel smiled at Kyan.

It had been a life without much to smile about.

With each small, pretty dessert she picked up, she found herself laughing for no reason.

‘I did well to listen to the butler’s advice.’

Kyan couldn’t understand why places like cafés existed, why he needed to go to such places, and how having tea in such a shabby building could be considered a date.

‘My Lord, you shouldn’t think that way.’

‘What’s not right?’

‘When dating, you must always listen to and accommodate the lady’s wishes.’

‘So, you’re saying I should go to some rundown building and pay for cheap tea?’

Considering the tea available at Lowen Castle was probably the most expensive in Lowen.

Kyan’s doubt left the butler looking somewhat perplexed.

‘That woman actually likes this kind of thing?’

‘As far as I know, Balmond is too cold for garden cafés. Especially roses, they are a symbol of the southern regions.’

The butler asserted firmly.
‘Can I be sure Clodel will like this?’

‘Absolutely. If Madam does not enjoy the garden café, I will gladly accept a salary cut.’

With the butler insisting so strongly, Kyan eventually accepted the suggestion.

It was decided to stop by a nearby café while buying a few jewels for Clodel.

“Thank you.”

But he hadn’t expected to see this.

Clodel’s beaming smile.

He hadn’t imagined the woman who had sat expressionless, her face gaunt and shadowed, would smile like that.

Clodel, now recovering, had color returning to her skin and her cheeks plumping up.

Her red hair and golden eyes made her look as if she too was a blossom in this rose garden.

When she sat among the modest white margaret flowers, he thought such a serene and quiet place suited her.

But sitting amid these vibrant flowers, Clodel seemed like the most brilliant one among them.

Feeling he stared too openly, Kyan coughed and called for the menu.

“See if there’s anything else you’d like to order.”

Clodel’s eyes lit up.

“Really? Is that okay?”

Kyan crossed his arms in lieu of a verbal response.

The butler had repeatedly advised him before leaving.

‘My Lord, when you go to the café, let Madam choose the menu.’

‘Is that important?’

‘Very important. If you don’t give her the choice, it’s almost worse than not going to a café.’

Then he carelessly ordered the most expensive dessert set and tea for two at the shop.

Remembering it belatedly, he called for the menu, thinking it wouldn’t hurt to order more.

“Hmm.”

Clodel read each item on the menu attentively, very different from her behavior at the jewelry shop.

‘Does she find this interesting?’

Kyan couldn’t believe that ‘ladies’ enjoyed reading about food names, ingredients, and prices, as the butler had said.

But seeing Clodel apparently enjoying it, he kept quiet.

Instead, he leisurely observed her as she read the menu.

The thin fabric of the southern-style dress suited her petite frame better than the thick, high-necked northern-style dresses she must have worn until coming here.

Balmond Castle was known for its coldness even in summer.

Her slender neck, delicately placed collarbones, and the pale nape, more noticeable without a necklace, captivated his gaze.

The thought of his lips and hands touching that white throat before the midday sun did made Kyan feel irritable again.

He often felt this way when he looked at Clodel these days.

It was strange to feel annoyed seeing a woman recovering and becoming healthier, especially when he had saved her life.

Today, her red lips among the red roses kept drawing his eyes.

He had yet to kiss Clodel.

Looking back, it was strange, but he had been too preoccupied with the first wedding night and hadn’t paid attention then.

Clodel’s illness was said to cause pain as if the chest was being scraped with a thousand knives just from breathing.
During their intimate moments, Clodel had clenched her eyes shut and gritted her teeth, enduring it as if fighting the agonizing pain caused by her illness.

Unaware of this, Kyan thought that the woman from Belmonte was horrified at the prospect of surrendering her body to a man from Temnes.

Despite his thoughts, he felt no obligation to be considerate towards the woman from his enemy’s family in an act mandated by royal command. Whether she suffered greatly didn’t matter to him then; he just did what he had to do.

However, a woman not in pain, her lips seemingly freed from torment, fluttered in Kyan’s mind like petals on a summer breeze.

Clodel, who had shown Kyan her smile for the first time today, generously beamed it at the newly met maid and ordered a few things. Only then did she put down the menu and looked at him.

“Can I ask you something?”

“Anything.”

“Why did you save me?”

On such a good day.

She asked Kyan the same question again.

‘You won’t die. I won’t leave you to that fate.’

‘Why? I am from Belmonte.’

‘I can’t allow a blemish in my life. Do I look like someone who would endure the dishonor of having his bride’s funeral three months after the wedding?’

She probably wasn’t expecting the same answer as before.

But an unresolved, tightly knotted sentiment impulsively prompted his response.

“Just because.”

Like the time she had saved him without any particular reason.

“If anyone else had been dying like that, I would have saved them too.”

It was then.

Upon hearing his words, Clodel’s face brightened like a fully blossomed flower.

‘Why such a face?’

When the male lead is punished by carrying the female lead’s child and having periods like a woman

“I’ve given birth to two children for you, yet you still think about him.

Was I nothing but his substitute to you from beginning to end?”
