Clodel started to say something but stopped, imagining Kyan’s cold, intimidating stare at the pajamas. She felt like burning them right away.

No matter how much the world loved them, she knew Kyan wouldn’t.

Hanna, always insisting she wear them, left Clodel feeling powerless. She nodded obediently.

“Alright.”

She planned to change back into her regular pajamas after Hanna returned to her room.

But she felt overwhelmingly sleepy, perhaps because she hadn’t napped during the day amidst the jewelry and Kyan’s visit.

‘He said not to sleep and wait.’

But Clodel dozed off.

Click.

She awoke to the sound of her room door closing.

“You’re here.”

“Were you asleep?”

Kyan had returned from somewhere in the afternoon and was still not dressed casually despite the late hour. He was in a black top with closely set golden buttons and a vest over a white shirt.

‘Oh, the pajamas.’

She meant to change after Hanna left. Feeling oddly shy, Clodel wished she had, given Kyan’s formal attire.

But he seemed uninterested in her pajamas and wrapped her in the blanket, lifting her up.

“Let’s go.”

“Where at this hour?”

In her pajama attire, where was he taking her?

“To see the stars.”

She wanted to say more, but as Kyan moved, Clodel clung tightly to the blanket from inside, feeling insecure being carried around like luggage.

He wouldn’t drop her, but the experience was unsettling.

After a silent walk through the castle’s dark, quiet hallways, he stopped at a grand door with intricate carvings.

He opened it familiarly and entered.

The spacious room had an antique atmosphere, but apart from an enormous bed, it lacked any other furniture, making it seem odd and unusual.
He carefully placed Clodel on the bed, checking her bandaged leg to ensure it was alright.

“Where are we?”

Clodel asked, confused, to which Kyan nonchalantly replied.

“My bedroom.”

Clodel’s eyes widened in surprise.

She was in his bedroom at this hour?

‘Where are we going?’

‘To see the stars.’

Was that what he meant?

She recalled euphemisms about stars representing intimate relations between men and women.

Being in her own familiar space was one thing, but being in Kyan’s bedroom felt different. It seemed unthinkable for her to be in his bedroom.

Feeling comfortable in her own space was one thing, but lying here, feeling the rough texture of the embroidered duvet cover, she felt an urge to flee.

“Can’t we just go back to my room?”

“Why?”

“Here it’s just…”

“You can’t see the stars from that room.”

Kyan moved around the dark room with ease.

He fiddled with something here and there, and then a loud noise echoed as he started turning a handle attached to the wall beside the bed.

Creaking sounds filled the room as the high, domed ceiling began to move.

“Wow.”

The painted panels that had decorated the dome shifted, revealing the starry night sky.

As the ceiling opened about a third of the way, Kyan sat down beside her.

“How is it?”

Clodel was speechless at the overwhelming sight.

“I’ve never seen a night sky like this before.”

As a castle’s lady, her routine was to go to bed by eight in the evening, not allowed to wander around late at night.

She had always loved stargazing, but seeing the stars with the naked eye like this was an entirely different experience compared to viewing them through glass windows.

“It was worth it.”

Overwhelmed, she unconsciously wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.

“Are you crying?”

“No, it’s just so beautiful.”

Despite being summer, the cool night air on her skin and the sound of the wind rustling through the forest under the moonlight were soothing.

And the numerous stars.

“People say when you die, your soul ascends to the sky and becomes a star.”

As a child, she wondered if her parents were among those stars.

Now, she pondered if there might be a place for her star there too.

“Showing you something nice and you get all sentimental.”

His cold remark made Clodel smile faintly.

If he had tried to comfort her, she might have really started crying.

“Cough, cough.”

Her faint cough made Kyan lift the blanket to wrap her up.

“Are you cold?”

“Not cold…”

Thud. Slide.

As Kyan leaned forward, his button caught on the loosely tied ribbon of her nightgown, causing the thin fabric to slip down her shoulder.

Panicked, Clodel tried to fix it, but Kyan caught her hand.

His voice, suppressing something, was low and resonant.

“……Can I?”

When the male lead is punished by carrying the female lead’s child and having periods like a woman

“I’ve given birth to two children for you, yet you still think about him.

Was I nothing but his substitute to you from beginning to end?”
