“Keep calm. They’re just children.”

I repeated this to myself, trying to maintain composure, but in truth, it was hard to even smile, so intense was my anger. Ganging up to subtly belittle and ostracize one person…

“…especially our Bianca.”

Suppressing my boiling rage, I forced a smile, which only seemed to turn the children’s faces even paler.

“‘Thankful for the day when Rebecca’s fearsome appearance, even when smiling, becomes useful.”

Observing the children, I suddenly clapped my hands as if remembering something forgotten.

“Ah, I almost forgot to explain why I came here. I actually stopped by to give you all a gift I prepared.”

“A gift…?”

“Yes, I had it prepared in advance, knowing Lady Bianca’s friends were coming.”

At my signal, Mina placed a box of dolls on the table. The children, despite their fear, peeked curiously into the box.

“Is… is this me…?”

“This doll looks just like me!”

The young ladies whispered to each other, suppressing their voices with fear but unable to hide their excitement.

‘Of course. I made sure to get the exact likeness of Bianca’s friends to order these dolls.’

Despite constantly checking my reactions, the children couldn’t take their eyes off the dolls that resembled them.

‘They must really like them.’

Watching them, I slightly raised the corners of my lips.

“It’s only right that these dolls, prepared with such care, go where they belong.”

I first took out the doll resembling Bianca and turned to her with a gentle smile.

“The first, of course, is for our lovely Lady Bianca.”

“Me…?”

Bianca looked back and forth between the doll and me with wide blue eyes.

“It’s a gift. I hope you like it.”

“Th-thank you, Lady V…”

Bianca’s smile was hesitant but seemed genuinely pleased.

“Now, next is…”

All eyes eagerly turned to my hand, each child hoping to be the next recipient.

I casually picked up the doll resembling Judith and commented nonchalantly.

“…a blonde doll.”

Judith’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.

Pretending ignorance, I tapped my chin thoughtfully.

“Hmm. This one is…”

After a moment of feigned contemplation, I tossed the doll over my shoulder to Mina.

“Throw it in the trash.”

The young ladies, and even Mina, looked shocked.

“Lady V, this expensive doll? It’s a rare piece made by a hard-to-book artisan!”

“What’s so precious about it? It’s shaped like a mean little…”

I glanced down at Judith.

“…like a foolish child who enjoys ostracizing friends.”

Realizing my intention, Mina slowly nodded.

“Ah, that makes sense.”

“See? We can’t give the wrong impression with such a distasteful doll. So…”

I looked at Judith with a faint smirk.

“Trash belongs in the trash bin, right?”

Judith bit her lip, her face about to burst into tears.

I looked at her coldly and slowly opened my lips.

“I told you.”

“…”

“These dolls belong where they rightfully should.”

My voice grew colder, causing the children’s shoulders to tremble again, much like Bianca’s had been under their taunts.

I stared into the box for a moment before pushing it towards Mina.

“Throw the rest in the trash, too!”
“Understood, Lady V!”

Mina responded cheerfully, her face betraying a hint of smug satisfaction as she glanced at the young ladies. The disappointed children all wore sullen expressions. Among them, Judith shot Bianca a look that screamed ‘I’ll deal with you later’, unnoticed by Bianca, who again shrank in fear.

This scene finally touched a nerve in me.

“Everyone, listen to me closely.”

Leaning slightly over the table and spreading my hands, my voice spread low and resonant around the room. Judith and the other children looked up at me with fear-stricken faces.

“I plan to inform the Ducal Palace about all the discriminatory remarks you made here today.”

“What…?”

“Especially you, young lady. Didn’t you say your mother often makes derogatory remarks about mixed-blood demons?”

“Lady V, that’s…!”

“Unluckily, this story might even reach the Emperor’s ears. What then…?”

“…”

“Your parents would be extremely troubled, wouldn’t they?”

The children’s faces turned pale. The contribution of mixed-blood demons was significant in the founding of the Western Empire, and Emperor Leticia never tolerated discrimination against them. Even as young nobles, these children knew that their families could face repercussions if this reached the Emperor.

And that would put them in a very difficult position.

“Lady V, we were wrong! Please, don’t do this… yes?”

“We’re sorry, Lady V…”

But Judith’s expression, though desperate, was almost wrathful.

“We’re just young and immature! It was just a mistake made in jest!”

Oh, where did they learn such talk? Repeating their parents’ overprotective words as a shield for themselves.

I looked down at Judith, curving my lips smoothly.

“A child’s mistake, you say… Well, that could be.”

“Right? I knew Lady V would understand…”

Judith grinned, thinking she had fooled an adult.

I stared at her for a moment, then spoke again.

“That’s why I must take this matter even more seriously.”
