…Damn wishing fountain.
It was my usual commute route, but I saw the fountain for the first time.
“When did this appear? I haven’t seen any construction.”
Feeling somewhat whimsical, I threw a 500-won coin into it and made a wish.
“May my husband become a wonderful person.”
But when I returned home…
“Honey! Th-this is all a misunderstanding!”
“Yeah, Jaehui! I’ll explain everything!”
This guy has become a son of a b**** sticking to my best friend in my bedroom?
“…What? A misunderstanding?”
“Yeah, a misunderstanding! We… No! I’ll explain everything! Huh? Just calm down a bit, and let me start with my explanation…”
The man, desperate, picked up his underwear and approached me.
Exactly three days ago, on the day my husband failed again to become a movie director.
As if afraid my husband might get discouraged, I had given him that luxury underwear as a gift.
“…But I never expected him to take off that underwear in front of my best friend.”
Believing in him as my husband, I worked hard without complaining, earning money, cooking, providing emotional support…
From the depths of my stomach, a cry of frustration surged.
“Trying to be a movie director, but was it an erotic film you wanted to make?”
“Honey, I understand you’re angry. But why use such harsh words? You know I’m working hard to become a top director. If I get the chance, it’ll all be to make you happy…”
“What top director? In five years of marriage, you couldn’t even earn ten million won. A top director, really?”
Even at this moment, trying to deceive me with empty promises.
It was so irritating that my bones felt like breaking.
“You bastard! Even if you can’t make a great movie, you should have at least lived like a leech, just like in those movies!”
I poured out curses, and my husband’s face contorted in an ugly manner.
“Hey! Are you done talking? If I make one big hit, I can pay off that small amount of money at once! Why is this happening?”
“Yeah, Jaehui. I understand your anger, but isn’t your language a bit too harsh? Wonho oppa doesn’t deserve such harsh words.”
Thud.
It was the sound of the fragile bonds of reason finally breaking.
“It’s a bit too much to treat that animal-kingdom shooting guy like a human.”
Without any lingering feelings, I threw away the facade of a human and grabbed my husband’s hair.
“Ouch! Hey! What are you doing uncivilized? Stop it!”
“Are you cultured when you fool around with my friend’s girl?”
“Ah, stop it! If you keep this up, are we really getting a divorce?!”
“Divorce?”
I let out a bitter laugh.
The anger gauge had already risen to the top.
With one hand holding onto his hair, the other hand raised high.
The last, but absolutely unforgettable, punch was about to be delivered.
“Fine, let’s get a divorce! You bastard!”
Whack!
Following that, portraits of an unknown noble came into view one after another.
“What is all this…?”
I must have fainted from frustration.
So, it was clear that I was seeing a hallucination.
“No! I need to wake up quickly and slap that woman’s face!”
I was in a hurry.
Just as I shook my head to wake up from the dream, I heard the voice of a charming but unfamiliar man.
“I didn’t know. Your skill is this good.”
A low voice that even felt oppressive.
I slowly turned my head towards the direction where the sound came from.
Neatly arranged black hair with pomade, flawless facial features, and broad shoulders.
Perfectly fitted black medieval noble-style suit and undoubtedly an expensive silk ascot.
A stunningly handsome man was right in front of my eyes.
The man, looking down at me with a cool gaze, gently touched his own cheek and smirked.
“Receiving your violent act ends here.”
The man’s cheek was swollen, as if he had just been hit.
Who could have caused that wound on his face…?
“…Wait a moment. Did I just hit him?”
Avoiding the man’s sharp reddish gaze, I tried to gauge the situation.
“Did I hit his cheek? No, I’m sure it was that fickle husband I hit. By the way, why am I here?”
No matter how I thought about it, it was difficult to understand the current situation.
A whirlwind of question marks swept over me.
In that vortex, I, who was absent-minded, suddenly remembered the forgotten fact.
“Oh right, I fainted. That’s right.”
It’s clear that this is a dream. Perhaps the gods pitied me and gave me a chance to see an incredibly handsome man even in my dreams.
But how did they know my taste and send me a medieval duke-style man?
“Thank you very much, but I still have things to do in my current life. Slapping friend X’s face, to be exact. Please send this man to my dream again tonight after my schedule is over.”
At another time, I might have begged not to wake me up from this dream, but not now.
Didn’t my husband just witness the scene of my best friend and him naked on the bed?
I, rekindling my fallen spirit, greeted the man.
“I’m a bit busy now, so I’ll leave. Let’s meet again tonight.”
Upon hearing that, the man stared at me with a gaze as if looking at a crazy woman.
“What’s with that speech that doesn’t suit you?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
