Before Lee Ra even finished explaining, I jumped up from my seat and ran toward the elevator. I pressed the button in a hurry, but today of all days, the elevator—stuck stubbornly on the 10th floor—wouldn’t budge.

I dashed toward the emergency stairs.

My footsteps echoed through the quiet emergency stairwell as I raced down. The moment I reached the company parking lot, I leaped over the leisurely automatic door without waiting for my employee badge to register.

I yanked open the car door and roughly started the engine. As I sharply turned the wheel, the underground parking lot filled with the screeching sound of tires.

Bad thoughts kept flooding my mind the entire drive. Moon Da Yul’s trembling figure from that workshop day kept flashing before my eyes. Unconsciously, I gripped the steering wheel tighter.

Luckily, the road was quiet, past rush hour. As I neared the place Lee Ra mentioned, I pulled over to the roadside.

“Lee Ra, where exactly did you part ways earlier?”

The moment I stepped out of the car, I called Lee Ra to confirm the location. I ran to the spot she described, but there was no sign of Moon Da Yul or Han Tae I.

Think. Think, Ji Seo Jun. Where could they have gone? Just then, I clearly overheard passersby talking.

“A while ago, I saw a guy dragging a woman by the wrist over there… Shouldn’t someone report that?”
