“Because of you. I said it was because of you. Did you hear me?”

I clearly said, “Because of you.” Yet not only did he give no reply, his response was so unsatisfying that I repeated each syllable slowly and distinctly. Still, Ji Seo Jun stared at me without blinking an eye.

I held up two fingers right in front of Ji Seo Jun, who suddenly looked like a fool.

“How many do you see?”

He immediately grabbed my fingers and spread them apart to either side.

“Ouch!”

Then he took his fork from my hand and refocused entirely on the tteokbokki.

“Say something, will you?”

I thought that if I told him I was worried because of him, he might offer some kind of answer—but maybe that was just my misunderstanding. I picked up my fork again and stabbed a piece of tteokbokki.

When most of the tteokbokki was gone, Ji Seo Jun glanced sideways at me.

“Do you… do you want to go?”

“Me? Well… I guess I’m thinking maybe I’d like to go a little, since I remember having fun working in Australia.”

“Then why did you tell the team leader you’d think about it?”

“It’s not something I can decide right away. Besides, I told you seriously I’d think it over too.”

Ji Seo Jun’s face kept popping into my mind—the one who’d even used his wish token to urge me to think seriously about it.
