Perhaps it was because the car was new, or because it was worth the expensive price tag, but it ran extremely smoothly. Maybe it was quiet because it was an electric vehicle. So, the sound of the car was really quiet.
The aunts in the back were chattering nonstop. They were highly excited, having gone for a drive after a long time. Because of the aunts’ chatter, I couldn’t sleep and just blankly looked out the window.
However, I didn’t entirely dislike the noise. I regretted a bit that I hadn’t suggested we all go together from the start, in light of the aunts’ joyful chatter.
I stole glances at Ji Seo Joon who was driving. I wondered if Ji Seo Joon felt the same as I did. Every time the aunts laughed, the corners of Ji Seo Joon’s mouth softened.
The boring highway ended and, before we knew it, the majestic sea revealed itself outside the window.
“It’s the sea!”
When I opened the window, a salty smell rushed into the car.
“Moon Da Yul, it’s been a while since you came to the beach, hasn’t it?”
“Yes!”
Perhaps because it was summer, the beach on the weekend was crowded with people.
Among them, Ji Seo Joon stood out noticeably. Not just because his small head was rising above the crowd, but also because of his distinctive facial features that could be seen clearly even from afar.
Wherever he was, it seemed like a Swiss pristine region, with no fine dust, like a clear backdrop on a day without a single speck of dust.
Ji Seo Joon got out of the car and squinted against the strong sunlight. Then he brought out sunglasses from the car.

Despite covering his face, why did his looks stand out even more?
Because of the traffic jam, we arrived almost at lunchtime and decided to head to a sashimi restaurant first. After all, we could watch the sea while eating the sashimi.
Regrettably, the window seats of the sashimi restaurant we entered were already filled with people, and even the socalled better seats had glaring reservation signs.
“Should we go to another place?”
Ji Seo Joon asked as I kept eyeing the window seats.
“Just eat. Why bother moving seats again?”
My mother answered on my behalf.
“Right. Let’s just eat.”
I nodded in agreement with Mrs. Kim’s words. As soon as we took our seats, the table was promptly set. Shortly after, a delectable array of assorted sashimi made a grand appearance in the middle of the table.
As I tasted the freshly cut sashimi, I pondered.
Would I really have stared at the seaside while leaving behind this delicious raw fish?
I placed two pieces of sashimi on lettuce and deeply dipped it in chili paste. In good conscience, I refrained from adding garlic. I neatly wrapped the sashimi in lettuce and took a mouthful.
Yes. This is it. So delicious.

Nodding, I frowned. The honest wrinkle that only showed up when I ate something delicious was evident between my brows. Before the food in my mouth even had a chance to pass down my throat, I picked up more lettuce. Suddenly, I had the sensation that Ji Seo Joon was looking at me. When I turned my head, he was gazing at me with chopsticks in his mouth.
“Why?”
“Didn’t I tell you not to talk with food in your mouth?”
Of course, it’s not a good habit. But if it has not been corrected despite getting scolded from childhood till now, shouldn’t Ji Seo Joon give up?
I quickly chewed and swallowed the sashimi, then asked again.
“Why are you staring at me like that? It’s discomforting.”
“Slow down your eating. Did you starve for days?”
I shouldn’t have asked.
I blithely ignored Ji Seo Joon’s words and lifted the ladle. I had ordered the spicy fish soup, which tasted better the longer it simmered, in advance. The soup was bubbling fiercely. I distributed it evenly between my mother and the lady. Just as I was about to serve myself some soup, Ji Seo Joon extended his empty bowl towards me.
“Spoon it for me.”
Why on earth should I do that? As I handed the ladle to him, my mother snatched it from me.
“Anyway, why are you always so hard on Seo Joon when left alone?”
My mother glared at me and ladled a chunky piece of meat into Ji Seo Joon’s bowl after she took a good look at me.
“Seo Joon, eat a lot.”
“Thank you.”
Ji Seo Joon received the spicy fish soup my mother offered with a fairly satisfied expression.
Was this a one or twoday affair? I smiled as if unaffected, curling one corner of my lips, and lifted my spoon. I put the deliciously simmered spicy fish soup into my mouth.
“Ugh… I want to drink soju.”
“No.”
Ji Seo Joon said sternly from beside me.

“Why?”
“Soju doesn’t go with soup.”
How many times has he drank soju with me for him to already understand me so well? When there was soup that paired well with soju, I tended to drink more than usual.
Although it was disappointing, I had to listen to the resolute Ji Seo Joon.
I finally put my spoon down after finishing my meal.
