That thing he was holding and waving around. He still had it. I stuck out my tongue.
It was one of the pledges I had written to him during high school.
In other words, there were several more pledges apart from that one.
What was written in the pledge, you ask.
[Pledge.I, Moon Da Yul, pledge to do whatever Ji Seo Joon asks me to do once a month without objection.
If I fail to comply, Ji Seo Joon will inform my parents (Father Moon Ju Sung, Mother Kim In Young) about the misconduct I committed in my living room around 5 pm on April 17th, and he will not harbor any resentment or seek retaliation.]
Even changing it from twice a month to once a month was a significant concession. ‘Without objection’ was even highlighted with a fluorescent pen.
I didn’t want to think about why I had written such a pledge.
As I hurriedly prepared to leave, General Ttoee looked up at me, meowing as if wondering what was going on.

How could I turn my back on those eyes? I clenched my aching stomach.
But, the pledge was still in his hand, so I had to go watch the documentary.
“General, I’ll be back soon, so don’t worry. I’ll finish my duties when I return.”
As I said goodbye to General Ttoee, Ji Seo Joon, who was looking at me with a pitiful gaze, hurried me at the entrance.
“Come out quickly.”
“I’m coming.”
The place that showed the documentary Ji Seo Joon wanted to watch was one of a few in Seoul, and we had to go quite a distance from the nearby cinema.
“With all the taxi fare you collect, you could buy a house in Seoul.”
I muttered, looking out the taxi window at the buildings of Seoul rushing past.
“So, do you want to get off now and take the bus?”
“No. The more people take taxis, the more money taxi drivers can make.”
Ji Seo Joon, who had been shaking his head at my words, spoke.
“I’m planning to buy a car soon. I guess I shouldn’t have disposed of the car I used in the U.S.”
“A car? The office is close, too. Why suddenly buy a car?”
“I want to go places on the weekends, but it’s inconvenient without a car.”
Ji Seo Joon was resting his elbow on the car window, propping his chin on the back of his hand, and casually looking out at the landscape while talking about the inconvenience of not having a car. Seeing him like that, I thought I should check his bank balance one of these days.
“We’re here.”
We got out of the taxi and entered the cinema.
The place was quite crowded, maybe because it was famous for having many screening halls even in Seoul.

Thanks to booking in advance, we bought some simple snacks and sat down in empty seats, eating popcorn and peoplewatching.
Most of the people I was watching were watching Ji Seo Joon.
Couples who were upset because their girlfriends glanced at Ji Seo Joon, female college students who giggled as they whispered to each other while looking at Ji Seo Joon, even a woman who blatantly stared at Ji Seo Joon as she passed by.
I wouldn’t be able to sit in my seat if my face felt that hot.
But the guy next to me didn’t care at all and was explaining about the movie we were going to watch soon while fiddling with his phone.
“This documentary took seven years just to prepare. Amazing, isn’t it?”
I think you’re more amazing, you jerk.
“If it’s good today, I have to find the director’s other works. It might be difficult to find. Which site should I visit to find it?”
I realized that it had been quite a while since I saw him like this.
He loved going straight ahead. Ji Seo Joon threw himself forward without hesitation, with all his might.
That’s why he never missed a scholarship while studying in the U.S., and he made a name for himself in that famous company. Thanks to that, he was headhunted to our company and confidently held the position of senior researcher.
I was lost in thought watching him when he suddenly spoke.

“You should go to the restroom.”
He took away the popcorn and cola that were in my lap, telling me to go to the restroom.
“Why? I don’t feel the need to yet.”
“You’ve been drinking cola like that, aren’t you going to have to go to the restroom during the movie? Go before it starts.”
Ji Seo Joon even seemed to know the condition of my bladder. I showed him a disgruntled expression and then reluctantly got up from my seat and headed to the ladies’ room.
After forcing myself to go and washing my hands, two women behind me called out to me.
“Excuse me?”
“…Me?”
When I pointed to myself with my finger, the women nodded.
“Why…?”
I felt uneasy.
“Is the man you were with outside your boyfriend?”
It was the question I had anticipated.
“Ha…. No. Just a friend. A friend.”
Then, the women’s faces brightened, and they looked at each other and spoke to me again. The next question was going to be that one, right?
“Does your friend have a girlfriend?”
As expected, the next question was exactly what I had anticipated.
How could their questions be the same as they were ten years ago and now? I was hoping for a different question.
“Yes. He does.”
This answer was a prepared response made by Ji Seo Joon.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
