“Let’s all eat breakfast! We have a busy schedule today.”
We had a quick breakfast, and upon asking what’s the schedule for the day, Yoon Hee replied that we should play and eat to our hearts’ content. I gave her a thumbs up, and she laughed like a young girl.
After breakfast, we were all prepared to go out, except for the men, following Yoon Hee’s suggestion to visit the traditional market nearby.
Ji Seo Joon was most pleased by Yoon Hee’s ambition to start cooking classes as soon as she gets healthier.
He kept saying that when you travel, you must visit a traditional market.
“These days, traditional markets are clean, and there’s a lot to eat, so it’s even more fun to watch.”
“Really? Wonder what’s tasty.”
The two excited ajummas in the backseat couldn’t stop chatting the whole way.
“Is my hearing fine?”
Their chat was broad and deep, quite a variety of topics, but only pleasant to hear for a while. Later on, my ears began to feel tired. Upon arriving at the market, I felt I needed a hearing test.

“Don’t exaggerate.”
Ji Seo Joon said as he got out of the car.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, it’s just nice to watch.”
Ji Seo Joon looked content watching the ajummas. They say you shouldn’t marry a devoted son, and as that life advice crossed my mind, the ajummas ahead called for us.
And so our market exploration began.
As Yoon Hee said, there was a lot to see. Especially since tomorrow was Chuseok, the market was even busier, bustling with energy.
While squeezing through the crowd to not lose the ajummas, the moms who were watching us told us to wait in a quieter area, then they disappeared.
Staring blankly at them, a delicious smell began to waft over.
“What is that smell?”
Holding a hotdog already sprinkled with sugar in one hand, I sniffed the air, drawn by a different aroma. Ji Seo Joon snatched the hotdog away from me.

“Don’t you dare eat it. Be quick and come back.”
Twenty-nine years of friendship shined in that moment. I nodded, promising to be quick, and went off to find the source of the smell.
“Found it.”
It was buckwheat pancakes, something you can’t miss in Gangwon Province. After a brief wait, I shook the bag containing the pancakes and headed back to where Ji Seo Joon was.
“What’s that painting?”
I’d often seen Ji Seo Joon surrounded by young women, but this was a rare sight.
“Are you single? Did you come from Seoul? You’re really handsome.”
An elderly woman selling vegetables next to us asked Ji Seo Joon.
“Yes, I came from Seoul.”
“Is that why your skin is so fair?”

This time it was a middle-aged woman selling fish next to the elderly vegetable seller.
“No, it’s not like that…”
Ji Seo Joon was somewhat weak around adults and was diligently answering their questions.
“Did you come alone?”
“No, I came with my family.”
“With your girlfriend?”
“What?”
Ji Seo Joon’s eyes widened slightly at the word ‘girlfriend.’ It was obvious he was flustered. I contemplated rescuing him but decided to enjoy the view a bit longer.
“Do you want to meet my granddaughter if you’re not married?”
The vegetable-selling grandma opened her flip phone and pushed the buttons with her thick thumb before handing it to Ji Seo Joon.

“She’s pretty, right? She lives in Seoul too and has a job.”
Just then, the fish-seller interrupted.
“Grandma, you’re too fast. I was about to introduce my daughter.”
“My granddaughter is prettier.”
“Do you know my granddaughter?”
I couldn’t help but laugh seeing Ji Seo Joon stuck between the two women. I guess it was time to rescue him. Just as I took a step–
“Ah! There’s my son-in-law!”
Suddenly, someone arm-locked Ji Seo Joon and pulled him away from the vegetable seller and the fishmonger. I had to stop in my tracks.
“You’re not married?”
“We’re not married yet, but we will be. Right, Seo Joon?”

It was my mother.
“What? Uh…”
Caught off guard by the unexpected turn of events, I blinked from a distance.
“Are you really going to be my mother-in-law?”
The grandmother looked skeptical.
“Of course!”
[Star Icon][Star Icon]On the way back from the market, I trailed behind Ji Seo Joon, pondering what to say to my mother.
“Right? Mom knew.”
“Yes, she knew.”

As Ji Seo Joon and I murmured, Mom stopped and turned around.
“Hurry up. My legs are hurting from all the walking.”
Fortunately, Mrs. Yoon Hee wasn’t there. My forgetful mother had left her wallet in my bag and had retraced her steps to find me.
And upon discovering older women eying Ji Seo Joon, she had loudly declared, ‘He’s my son-in-law!’
In the car on the way back to the lodging, Mrs. Yoon Hee, sensing the weird atmosphere, asked,
“Did you eat something delicious without me?”
“There’s nothing we’d eat without you, Yoon Hee.”
Although she didn’t lift her suspicious gaze, fortunately, she didn’t press further.
When we arrived at the lodging, Ji Seo Joon carried all the bags from the market up to the place. Mrs. Yoon Hee followed him to the guesthouse.
I grabbed my mother’s arm as I followed behind.

“Hold on, let’s talk.”
“What?”
“Mom…”
I glanced around to see if anyone was nearby before opening my mouth.
“Mom, you knew.”
Mom yanked her arm out of my grasp, folded her arms, and snorted.
“How could I not know when you look at each other so tenderly? Huh? Did you have the intent to hide it?”
“W, we?”
“The neighborhood laundry guy said so. He saw you and Seo Joon holding hands.”
“What? When?”
“When is not important. You’re both so restless, wanting to be together. There are many people in the neighborhood who have seen you since you were in diapers. What a shame. Why did you hide it anyway? I went along with it because you seemed to want to.”

Facing my mom’s question, admitting I had hidden it out of embarrassment for becoming lovers after 29 years of friendship and in fear she might press for marriage, she slapped my back.
“Who says you have to marry just because you’re dating Seo Joon?”
Just then.
“Who’s dating Seo Joon?”
Mr. Seung Ho stood there, alternating his gaze between mom and me, car keys in hand.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
