The transition from playful, spiteful teasing to an absolute emotional gut-punch is masterfully done. After spending the entire walk making fun of Alan for his cave-interrogation trauma and mocking his inability to hide his feelings, she stops right outside a convenience store and drops a massive truth bomb: “Juno never once resented you.” Watching her use the original Juno’s real memories to finally, permanently absolve him of his survivor’s guilt is an incredibly beautiful, heavy piece of closure.- Alan Jade really spent eight years surviving a horrific, world-ending timeline, only to get completely flustered by a modern-day high schooler’s aggressive common sense. The absolute comedy of him trying to act tough, walking away like a “full-bellied cat,” and then immediately ducking into a convenience store just to shove a cold ice cream bar into her face because “the weather’s been nice all day and you don’t eat ice cream when it rains” is elite tsundere behavior. He practically handed her his entire emotional surrender wrapped in plastic.
