Starting with a mischievous joke, the two began their preparations for business in earnest.

Daren was bewildered by the sudden appearance of the shop, yet at the same time greatly relieved that Princess Stella no longer had to stand anxiously at a street stall.

What reassured Daren even more, however, was Cookus’s presence.

Merely by standing there, Cookus was intimidating enough to deter others—meaning they wouldn’t have to endure another incident like the one in the market before.

“Little brother! From now on, call me ‘older brother.’ I’ve already told everyone in the market to refer to me that way, so it’ll be much more convenient for you to do the same.”

“Yes, thank you… Older brother.”

When Daren obediently called him “older brother,” Cookus affectionately ruffled his hair as if he found him endearing, then burst into hearty laughter.

Though Daren was much taller than Cookus, he quickly bent his waist whenever Cookus reached up to tousle his hair. Cookus, pleased by Daren’s thoughtful behavior, proved surprisingly warm and attentive despite his intimidating appearance.

Seeing the two getting along so well filled Stella with quiet pride. Reuniting with Cookus had been a stroke of great fortune for her, and coming to the market together with Daren felt like an even greater blessing.

“Now I can come out to sell even on rainy days.”

Stella looked around the modest shop—small but fully equipped with a roof and walls—and spoke with a happy smile.

It wasn’t a grand establishment, nor did it even have a proper door, yet Princess Stella was as delighted as if she’d just received a magnificent mansion.

Everyone in Verdura Castle already knew that Princess Stella genuinely rejoiced over simple things, despite her noble status.

Yet each time Daren witnessed it firsthand, he felt strangely conflicted—partly glad, partly sorrowful.

One thing was certain: the more time he spent with her, the more sincerely he wished for Princess Stella to prosper even further.
