The dress Melissa lent her was as soft and subtle as the color of her hair. Just as Melissa had said, it fit Stella’s body perfectly, as if it had been tailored for her.

The dress, which left her shoulders fully exposed, flowed naturally down Stella’s body like quiet water over a curved surface.

It had been made according to Melissa’s preference—she absolutely hated wearing petticoats or anything that puffed out the dress underneath.

It didn’t even cinch her waist tightly, making it easy to breathe. Yet, despite that, it was far more alluring than the dress she’d worn just moments ago.

If one were to weave moonlight into fabric and craft a dress from it, this would be exactly what it would look like.

Stella found her reflection in the mirror utterly unfamiliar. She felt as if she’d truly become a noble princess.

“You look wonderful in it. It fits perfectly.”

Melissa spoke as she watched Stella, who stood staring blankly at her own reflection in the mirror. Honestly, even Melissa herself was surprised by how stunning Stella looked in the dress.

It suited Stella so well that Melissa almost regretted lending it to her. She hadn’t expected to feel relieved that Kai wasn’t here.

“Thank you. I’ll be sure to return the dress.”

Stella ran her fingers gently over the soft hem of the dress. The fabric felt so smooth that it seemed as if it might slip through her fingers like water.

“No, just keep it.”

“But—”

“I don’t wear anything that’s been worn by someone else. Just take it. Besides, since the incident happened at my party, it’s only right that I handle it.”

Melissa spoke clearly and precisely, and even another woman would have found her incredibly impressive—not just because she’d taken Stella’s side in that moment.
