Anet’s voice, whispering secretly and quickly right next to her ear, pierced Stella’s hearing like a sharp needle.

For a moment, her mind went blank as if someone had struck the back of her head hard, and every prepared retort vanished without a trace.

Stella realized she’d been holding her breath only when she met Anet’s condescending gaze.

‘Breathe, Stella. It’s nothing serious. Pull yourself together. You can’t fall apart. You must protect your people.’

Just as Stella was about to ask what she meant, Anet—who had been wearing a smug smile—suddenly flinched as if doused with cold water and began trembling violently.

Her previously composed, beautiful eyes now swirled chaotically with confusion, alarm, and fear.

“Aaah! What is this? Something’s crawling on my back!”

Feeling something crawl along her back and thighs, Anet let out an involuntary, shrill scream.

People around her stared wide-eyed in shock, but Anet seemed utterly oblivious to their attention, so flustered was she.

“Aaaah! What is this!”

Whatever it was moved so swiftly that the thing on her thigh instantly climbed up to her buttocks, while the one crawling on her back had already reached her calves.

Anet began frantically shaking her legs, which had been sitting demurely until now, kicking off her newly bought shoes far away—but she didn’t even think about picking them up.

“Your Highness! What’s wrong? Are you alright?”

Anet’s maid approached her, pale-faced and anxious, asking in distress. Though it wasn’t the maid’s fault that something had gotten into Anet’s clothes, Anet slapped her cheek so hard it echoed sharply.
