Ludina, who had initially jumped in fright thinking it was a giant beetle, now stared wide-eyed at Vella, who sat as naturally on Stella’s head as if it were her nest, and asked in astonishment.

She had never seen an animal as adorable as this one, not even among the earth sprites.

Its face resembled a rabbit’s, yet it had wings; its translucent wings looked like those of a large insect, yet its feet were those of a bird.

Its entire body was covered in fluffy fur as brilliantly white as freshly fallen snow.

“Vella.”

“Vella? Is that the name of this bird’s species?”

Ludina still couldn’t take her eyes off Vella, but Vella showed no interest in Ludina at all.

Comfortably perched on Stella’s head, she groomed her chest feathers and wings with a small, pink-tinged tongue—just like a cat grooming itself. She truly was a wondrous creature.

“No, Vella is her name. Iver brought her from the Snowy Mountains—she’s a Baiyun Bird. Isn’t she pretty?”

“Peeeeee!”

Seemingly delighted more by being called pretty than by anything else, Vella, who had been sitting quietly, suddenly spread her wings wide and flapped them excitedly.

“Yes, she’s absolutely adorable. She must be a chick, judging by how small she is.”

“Yeah. They say she’ll grow quite large once fully grown.”
