When Stella opened the pouch Oton had brought and saw the glowgrass seeds, she was startled, thinking they were beads made of blue crystal. She rejoiced, thinking, “Not only did they bring gold and silver coins, but now they’re even giving me jewels!”

But upon closer inspection, she realized their smooth, round surfaces meant they weren’t gems at all—they were plant seeds. Finding herself even happier than when she’d mistaken them for jewels, she couldn’t help but let out a quiet chuckle at her own silliness.

“These are seeds Grandfather Woo Hoo collected over a long time. He said to give them to you as a gift. The earth sprites find this plant very useful, so I’m sure you’ll like it too, Stella.”

Oton, seemingly feeling guilty for not being able to help, kept trailing after Stella, endlessly repeating words that were neither nagging nor consolation.

Somehow, Stella felt she understood Oton’s feelings.

“Please be sure to tell him how truly grateful I am. So that’s why he’s been hard to see lately—he was gathering these.”

Realizing that Woo Hoo’s absence since the mass-sleeping incident had been due to collecting these seeds, Stella felt both thankful and apologetic.

She hadn’t done much for them at all, yet the earth sprites were frantic to give her everything they had. Aside from Ludina, no one had ever shown her such blind affection, support, and words of trust.

But now, far more earth sprites than the number of people she’d known her whole life considered her a friend and gathered around her.

Overwhelmed by a sudden surge of happiness, Stella sniffled, prompting Mila to approach with a worried expression.

“Princess, are you all right? If you’re too tired, please hand the work over to someone else right away.”

Though Ludina had explained that this was the expression the princess always made when she found something she truly loved doing, Mila still felt awkward watching the princess work alone.

Mila, who had been lingering nearby hoping to assist with something else, was startled when she suddenly saw Stella sniffle and wipe her eyes, and hurried over.

“Huh? No, I’m fine. Really. I’m doing this because I enjoy it. In fact, I’d be nervous if you offered to help—let me have this fun all to myself.”

Stella hoisted her pickaxe onto her shoulder and said cheerfully. The blade, catching the sunlight, sparkled like a treasure made of silver.
