Originally, it was purchased to make clothes needed by the ducal family, but we already had more dresses than we could wear.

“So isn’t it better utilized this way?”

“Shouldn’t you keep some for yourself, Madam?”

“The tapestries in the castle are already good enough.”

I’ll renovate the castle after earning money from my business, so there’s no need to be greedy.

“Still…”

Bonisa stood with a bewildered look on her face. Then, her eyes lit up.

“There’s quite a bit of fabric left over from making the tapestries. I can make clothes for you, Madam!”

She seemed somewhat regretful.

“No, I’m going to make outerwear for the maids in the castle.”

“Really? With that precious fabric?”

“Yes. Bonisa, you will get two special ones. You’re going to catch a cold with those thin clothes.”

I’ve been concerned about the maids walking around in thin clothing.

It makes me cold just looking at them.

So even if they refuse, I planned to have them wear it.

Bonisa looked at me blankly.

“Even so…”

“If you refuse, I’ll give you my clothes. Do you like the ones with rabbit fur?”

When I pretended to open the wardrobe, she hurriedly stopped me.

“No, no! I’ll wear it!”

I reluctantly turned away, seeing her unexpectedly agree to wear it. Then I suddenly remembered arguing over the dress decorations at the wedding.

“But there’s still no letter from Casian? He should have replied by now since I responded during the wedding.”

Speaking of which, the letter is late.

Even if it’s the North and not the capital, the delay in delivery is excessive.

“All the letters that have come for you, Madam, were sent by the Count.”

Bonisa also looked downcast as she answered.

‘Did he find it burdensome to meet?’

The last letter set a date we both wanted to meet.

I had set the date generously so that he wouldn’t feel pressured. But if there’s still no answer, he might not be ready yet.

“He’ll come soon. In case Lucky forgot, please contact the Count’s house.”

“Yes, Madam.”

(This is a time separator.)

These days, Bonisa’s face was full of vitality.

‘Madam is really a good person.’

It was because Anette, who had given Bonisa hope for life from their first meeting till now, was there.
He had followed her impulsively, but not for a moment did he regret it. Rather, life in the North was enjoyable, reminding him of home.

“I need to hurry and make some clothes to show the Mistress.”

She headed towards where the maids were, her spirits lifted.

The maids would soon find out how good of a person Anette was.

However, before she could even open the door, the voices from inside shattered her expectations.

“The Mistress has recently been enjoying going out, hasn’t she?”

“Exactly. She roams the castle every day, not paying any attention to household affairs.”

“What’s the use of being kind? She has no interest in us or the people of the domain.”

She knew they loved to gossip, but she had no idea they’d speak ill of her without really knowing her.

“All the noble ladies from the capital are like that. They just live for the fun of wearing jewelry.”

Bang!

Bonisa burst through the door. The two maids merely glanced at her and continued their loud conversation.

“Do you think the Mistress is just draining our domain’s funds for nothing?”

“My point exactly. She’s a noble from the capital; how could she understand our situation?”

“How would she know our—ugh!”

At that moment, a heavy pile of fabric fell onto the maids’ heads. Bonisa had thrown it.

She couldn’t tolerate the maids talking about Anette without knowing her any longer.

“What the hell are you doing?”

One of the maids looked at Bonisa irritably.

“Leave her alone… She’s a maid brought by the Mistress.”

The maid next to her shushed her, sizing up Bonisa.

“You must be comfortable, staying warm and relaxed by the Mistress’s side.”

“Wasn’t it the Mistress who ordered the tapestry yesterday? She’s weak against the cold; seems like she wants to hang it all around her room. I wonder if she’ll be able to endure the later years if she can’t even handle this much cold.”

Bonisa’s neck had turned red.

She wanted to grab them by their hair. But she restrained herself, not wanting to make Anette the subject of criticism. Bonisa clenched her teeth and glared at them.

“Why are you staring at us like that? We’re just concerned about the Mistress. You’re not going to go running off to tattle to her, are you?”

“…Just prepare to make the clothes.”

She swallowed her chokedup voice.

“Is the Mistress planning on having another new dress made?”

In truth, aside from the dress Hertian had gifted her, Anette had only worn what she already owned.

But in the eyes of the maids, Anette was just a young lady who frivolously played all day.

‘Miss Lily was right. She came here as the Duchess just to enjoy herself.’

Moreover, their marital relationship was good; nobody had the right to criticize them for eating and having fun.

The maids secretly felt relieved that at least Lily was there.

“So how many outfits should we make?”

At the impertinent question, Bonisa swallowed her bitterness and replied.

“50.”

Let’s hope you don’t regret this later.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
