“Mikael.”

They welcomed him as he entered the townhouse.

“Welcome.”

Hertiand did not let go of his words.

He, with neatly tied silver hair, smiled warmly.

“Your Grace. Greetings from Duchess. Greetings from Duchess’s companion.”

Then, he looked at the Hertiand standing next to me and showed proper manners.

“Thank you for inviting me today.”

He presented the gift he brought.

As soon as the butler received it, Hertiand recognized the gift immediately.

“It’s the dessert from the most famous patisserie for macarons. It seems Madam knows you like desserts.”

“You may enjoy even more delicious desserts in the north, but I remembered you liked macarons here. I hope you like it.”

Mikael looked at me and smiled with his eyes.

“As for me, desserts are always welcome. It’s quite challenging to buy from this store every time because there’s always a line. Thank you.”

Although I accepted it gratefully, it didn’t sit well with me.

This patisserie was a place that brought back memories before the possession.

‘I mistakenly thought of him as a savior while eating desserts there in front of Serdis.’

Because of that memory, it was a store I hadn’t set foot in again. Visiting it again might revive nightmares.

But since I didn’t mention this in the letter, he naturally didn’t know.

It was enough to graciously accept the gift I bought after thinking about it. I quickly brushed off any lingering thoughts.

“We’ll eat together after the meal.”

“All right. Let’s go inside for now.”

Dinner at the townhouse was perfect.

Penne with aged pumpkin, beef stew with mushrooms, and gratin with egg potatoes.

All were dishes Casyan liked.

I suspected Hertiand might have secretly read my letter.

Of course, it was because among the dishes prepared today, many were the ones he liked. I concluded that our tastes were similar.

As much as I prepared, Mikael didn’t seem pleased.

I asked him quietly if he was uncomfortable.

“What could be uncomfortable? I appreciate the time you took for me to come. Everything was prepared because of your visit. Don’t feel burdened and be at ease.”

Mikael nodded lightly.

I returned to my seat.

We sat facing each other at the round table.

Hertiand first filled his plate with food.

Then he placed it in front of Mikael.

“The mushroom dish today is delicious.”

Mushrooms were piled generously on top of the meat. He also added sauce without missing any.

“Eat plenty.”

I looked at the two with a proud face. If you take care of their favorite foods, they become close quickly.

“Does the food suit your taste?”

“Yes. It’s very delicious.”

“Thank goodness. I was worried it might not match your taste since I couldn’t prepare the fish dish you like.”

It was a remark that brought up the previous conversation we had when we dined together.

Mikael ate very well then, and I felt sorry that I couldn’t treat him better.

“Even with the dishes you prepared today, it’s an honor.”

A polite response followed.

“Did Mikael visit the palace again today?”

I asked while looking at his attire. It was as tidy as when we first met.

“Yes. I have a lot of work lately, so I practically live at the palace.”

“I heard you’re serving as an aide to Prince Serdis.”

Hertiand asked.

Mikael hesitated for a moment.

“You can speak freely. There’s no reason to feel uncomfortable even if you’re the prince’s close aide. In this place, you’re just an old friend of the lady. Right, my lady?”
“He looked at me and smiled slyly.

True to his words, Hertiand didn’t seem uncomfortable at all.

Mikael became the prince’s aide to find out what had happened to me. I wasn’t uncomfortable with him being Serdis’s aide either.

“Of course. I actually feel sorry that he might have taken on more work because of me.”

He mumbled while fidgeting with his hands.

Although he said it wasn’t a bad condition to be by the side of the future emperor, it was still a concern.

“No need to apologize. Although there was a reason in the beginning, I’m learning palace affairs and quite satisfied. It’s a good opportunity for me.”

“Does the prince know about today’s invitation?”

“…Yes.”

He hesitated a bit before answering Hertiand’s question.

“Were there no other words? I remembered when you returned to the north with a leg injury; I was worried about you.”

“He didn’t say anything else. He seemed surprised that I was an old friend of the Duchess. No one knew about my long friendship with Duchess.”

“I was surprised too. To think an old friend of the lady, who lived without knowing her true identity, became the prince’s aide. But seeing the lady apologizing, it seems like she’s avoiding the prince and approached him knowing that. The friendship between you two seems truly deep, envy-inducing.”

Mikael’s face stiffened at his words. Then, as if nothing happened, he relaxed.

“I was shocked when the contact was suddenly cut off, and I thought if I went to the prince, I could find out. Then I was surprised to learn you got married to the Duke. Still, I’m relieved. Lady seems comfortable by the Duke’s side.”

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
