After Kayena’s visit ended, Natasha stepped out of the private room. Her legs felt like they were giving out, and after barely taking a few steps, they completely collapsed beneath her. The knight standing guard, startled, rushed to support the Duchess who was about to crumple to the floor.
“Are you all right? Let me escort you back to your room!”
“No, it’s fine. I’d like to go alone.”
Natasha rose by herself, rejecting the knight’s assistance. A timid protest—“But still…”—escaped the worried knight’s lips, but it too went unheard.
Leaning on the wall, the woman slowly moved forward. Her unsteady body swayed erratically from side to side.
While wandering aimlessly down the corridor, she ran into Zieghart. Seeing Natasha, he immediately halted his hurried steps—as if he’d been searching for her.
“Natasha, are you all right?”

Natasha lowered the hand that had been caressing her face. She secretly tucked her trembling fingers into the folds of her skirt. Her lips, impossible to conceal, she bit tightly shut.
Avoiding his question, she looked up at Zieghart. He remained unchanged—still luminous—but the Natasha reflected in his beautiful eyes looked utterly wretched.
