The garden party, which had undergone many trials and tribulations until receiving approval from Nalssi, the chief organizer of the banquet, was ultimately a success. Every corner bore the Duke’s meticulous care, prompting guests to spontaneously marvel at the fruits of such devoted effort.

Entertainments that had already been thoroughly enjoyed over the past few days were, of course, offered without limit even at today’s garden party. With the added charm of nature’s ambiance, it truly felt like heaven. Despite having already shown ample enthusiasm, the nobles doubled their enjoyment, delighted by the unique flair presented before them.

After the long rain finally ceased, the sky cleared beautifully. A cool breeze swept past, gently brushing against their skin. Thanks to this, the drunkenness dissipated quickly, allowing wine to flow down their throats like water, gulp after gulp.

Waiters carried away empty plates, signaling that dinner was seemingly coming to an end. Right on cue, the orchestra appeared, shifting the mood with a lively tune.

Nobles patted their slightly full stomachs and exchanged glances among themselves. Though they half-teasingly suggested taking a brief rest now that they were full, their jeweled shoes had already stepped far beyond the tables.

Gentlemen moved to the outer circle, ladies to the inner, each forming large rings as they stepped gracefully in rhythm.

Each time the violin’s cheerful notes rang out, they halted, clapping hands with members of the opposite sex across from them. When the trumpet blasted loudly, women in the inner circle reversed direction, linking arms with the gentlemen opposite them to dance.

The extended stay had helped guests forge closer bonds even among themselves. Perhaps feeling more at ease with familiar faces, their movements grew noticeably lighter and more energetic than on the first day.

More people began requesting dances with Natasha first. Though they proudly extended their hands, most ended up fumbling awkwardly while actually dancing with the Duchess.

When the sun set and the wind turned chilly, everyone returned once more to the ballroom—a natural progression for those whose spirits still burned brightly.

“For the great House of Duke Aschardt!”

“A toast!”

Glasses lightly clinked together. The sharp, crisp sound stirred an odd excitement.

Natasha, too, filled her mouth with wine. At the Duke’s estate, alcohol was so strictly monitored that she rarely got to drink more than a sip—but here at the banquet, she could savor it to her heart’s content, without worrying about anyone’s disapproval.
