A harsh metallic clang as something struck the floor pierced their ears. Both Natasha’s and Kail’s eyes instantly turned toward the object, but the man swiftly kicked the sword away with his foot.

He had completely eliminated any means by which his opponent might harm him.

Seeing the woman’s face flushed with bewilderment, Kail let out a scornful laugh.

He then quickly glanced around, listening intently to the surrounding sounds. A perfect silence, devoid of even the faintest trace of human presence, greeted him.

Only then did Kail realize that this foolish woman had entered the room entirely alone.

“You’re quick on the uptake,” the man muttered under his breath, then kicked Natasha hard in the abdomen.

With a dull thud, Natasha fell backward, unable even to groan as her hair was immediately seized. The pain in her stomach from the kick barely registered before an even sharper agony tore through her scalp.

“Since you came alone, it seems you already saw through my trap.”

“I heard you’ve been accompanying the Knights of Charlier. Or perhaps… you came by yourself because you didn’t want your loyal knights to die?”

Kail mocked her while praising her courage—if not for the hand still clutching her hair, he might have clapped.

Natasha, who had remained silent until now, finally looked up at him. Strangely, her face—expected to be crushed by defeat—was instead filled with defiant pride.
