The courtroom erupted into another wave of commotion. The air surged like a crashing tide. In an instant, the atmosphere of the trial shifted.

It was an intensely dramatic moment—the moment Paul’s innocence became certain and the true culprit was revealed, one that would be indelibly etched into everyone’s memory.

Christoph gazed calmly at the judge.

“I will later submit the medical examiner’s report regarding the weapon and the wound on Nina Keller’s body.”

“Do so.”

The judge nodded quietly. Christoph, casting a final glance toward Klein, continued in an offhand tone.

“Mr. Klein, when I examined the soles of Nina’s shoes, I noticed something unusual.”

The audience hung on his every move. Klein couldn’t hide his bewilderment, and Michael couldn’t conceal his dismay.

The judge spoke in Klein’s stead.

“What was it, Counselor Schneider?”

“Instead of elderberry stains, there were traces of crushed raspberries. In fact, her fingernails were also stained with raspberry juice. And the only house nearby where raspberries were grown was yours, Seban Klein. That means the crime scene wasn’t the Keller residence’s backyard, but yours.”

“!”

Klein’s face turned deathly pale. A flicker of despair passed over his eyes. Every gaze in the room turned sharply toward him.

Suspicious stares pierced him from all sides like sharp thorns. Klein instinctively squeezed his eyes shut. His entire body was drenched in sweat.

“I object! Counsel is leading the witness! This hearing is to determine Paul Keller’s guilt or innocence, not to interrogate Mr. Seban Klein!”
