I Beg Your Forgiveness (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 24
This was a place Christoph would never set foot in, Marien thought as she slowly looked around the café.
True to its seaside location, the café was decorated in white and blue, exuding an overall clean and refreshing atmosphere. But what captured her attention most was—
“Oh…!”
A soft gasp escaped her lips. Beyond the large window stretched the blue sea—an expanse so vast she couldn’t tell where it began or ended.
Only then did Marien realize that although she’d been in Blauburg for several days already, this was the first time she’d actually seen the ocean. She must have had no leisure to admire it.
The sea was so deeply blue it appeared almost black, its depth unfathomable. It bore a completely different mood from the beaches of summer resorts.
In the distance stood a tall red lighthouse. Large ships steadily sailed into the harbor. The deep, resonant blasts of ship horns echoed chaotically, making Marien’s small shoulders jump each time.
This was no place of rest—it was a sea where fierce life unfolded. And she found it more beautiful than any resort coastline.
Down at the wharf, men rolled up their sleeves to shoulder heavy loads, while stray cats watched for opportunities to snatch fish.
Noticing her lost in the view outside, Christoph whispered softly,
“I knew you’d like it, Marien.”
Coffee and desserts were placed before the two seated by the large window. Only then did Marien lower her gaze to the table. She still didn’t know how to process this situation.
She glanced up. Christoph, leaning back leisurely, brought his cup to his lips. His flawless demeanor stole her attention.
As Christoph set down his cup and lifted his eyes slightly, their gazes met—and Marien quickly turned away, flustered. She looked toward the sea; he looked at her.
“Christoph.”
