I Beg Your Forgiveness (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 21
For a moment, Marien’s eyes widened in surprise. Nicholas hadn’t asked her to sort documents—he’d told her to write an incident report. That meant he recognized her as a full-fledged officer.
After briefly pursing her lips, she finally said, “Thank you.” Nicholas raised his voice as he watched Marien stride briskly toward the desk.
“That’s your desk. Just shove those mountainous piles of paperwork anywhere for now. Oh, and by the way.”
Marien stopped after a few steps and turned around. Nicholas, already walking away in the opposite direction, lazily waved one hand behind him.
“There’s a welcome party scheduled after work today. With two new recruits joining us, we’ll drink until our noses go crooked.”
“Lawyer! What on earth are you doing here? The capital is in chaos! You’ve stopped accepting new cases altogether—what on earth is going on? What about the capital? Why are you here? When will you return? Huh?”
Christoph, seated on a bench, crossed one leg leisurely as if oblivious to Oliver’s nagging. Arms folded across his chest, he cast his gaze toward the sky.
The vivid contrast between the azure sky and white clouds signaled they were squarely in the heart of spring. Tree branches occasionally entering his field of vision sprouted bright new green leaves, and somewhere nearby, cheerful birdsong rang out.
He sensed the familiar taste of salt in the air. Though it shouldn’t have been possible given the distance from the police station to the seaside, he felt it nonetheless—probably because this was Blauburg.
The land where sky meets sea.
Only then did Christoph realize he hadn’t looked up at the sky in a very long time. Amid his frantic, busy routine, he’d never had the luxury of even glancing upward.
And the consequence of that relentless busyness had been Marien’s declaration of divorce—her way of slamming the brakes on his accelerating life.
“Oliver Engel.”
“Yes, Lawyer.”
Oliver replied in a flat tone. Christoph continued in his usual detached manner.

My Step-brother Is Obsessed With Me (Female-dominant)
A gentle female protagonist vs pitiful in the early stage, and a sick male protagonist in the later stage
Cheng Songer transmigrated into the body of a vicious cannon fodder female supporting character with the same name as her in a female-dominant novel.
In the original story, the cannon fodder female supporting character was inhumane, committing domestic violence, gambling excessively, being lustful, and even wanting to sell her stepbrother to a brothel for money.
As luck would have it, she just happened to transmigrate at this time.
Seeing Cheng Qingzhi biting his lip, enduring the tears in his eyes, looking pitiful, her heart softened.
She stuffed the money back into the Madam’s hand and reached out to him.
“Brother, come home with me.”
