He slowly bent down and touched his lips to the crown of her head, then held her tightly in his arms. Her scent invaded his nostrils. His head felt dizzy.

The long wailing that seemed endless began to subside in his arms. Christoph thought it was regrettable. He didn’t want to let go of her.

“Have you returned?”

Christoph nodded lightly at Oscar as he headed to the living room.

He was in quite a good mood. Perhaps the best day in recent memory. He felt as if he had narrowly grasped Marianne in his fingertips. It was precarious but vivid, neither an illusion nor arrogance.

Just as he was about to open the living room door, Oscar muttered, “You have a guest.”

At this hour?

Christoph hesitated for a moment. His gaze was directed beyond the half-open door. Indeed, a woman sat before the Duke as Oscar had said.

The first thing that caught his eye was her pure silver hair. Next, the outfit that looked luxurious at first glance, and finally, her impeccable posture.

Sensing his presence, she slowly turned her head. Her turquoise eyes, resembling a midsummer thicket, wore an elegant smile.

“Princess Nadia.”

The name flowed out between Christoph’s teeth. Nadia greeted him with a slightly deeper smile. It was as if life had been breathed into a beautiful porcelain doll.

“Why so formal? It feels distant between us. How have you been, Christoph?”

At her words, Christoph faintly furrowed his brows. The current princess was, in layman’s terms, his childhood friend.

Not that they were particularly close. They simply encountered each other more frequently than other children when they were young. Whether that qualified them as childhood friends was debatable. Regardless, that was the case.
Nadia spent her childhood in Blauburg. Officially, her frail health had sent her away from the palace to recover in a quiet seaside town, but in reality, she was closer to being an outcast.

Her mother, the former queen, passed away when Nadia was just three years old, and the king remarried within a year. His new bride was a woman from a count’s family, who had been the subject of rumors since his days as crown prince.

There were even whispers that he had poisoned his former wife to marry her. While the truth of the rumors couldn’t be verified, it was clear that the king was deeply in love with his current queen.

Having a daughter from a previous marriage seemed to be somewhat inconvenient for the king who was in the honeymoon phase. Hence, Nadia was sent to Blauburg along with her step-grandmother.

She naturally became acquainted with Christoph Schneider because her nursemaid and Count Schneider had a fairly close relationship.

“It’s been a while. What brings you here, Your Highness? Without even a heads up.”

Christoph walked into the living room, offering a dry greeting. A faint frown crossed Nadia’s face as she rebuked him.

“Still so formal, I see.”

“We’re not children anymore.”

Nadia shrugged her shoulders lightly and turned her gaze towards Count Schneider. A slightly resentful voice slipped between her fine lips.

“Count Schneider, your strict upbringing has turned Christoph into such a stubborn adult. You should go easier on him.”

At that, Count Schneider merely chuckled. To him, Nadia was as dear as a granddaughter. Different from Marianne, but still someone he cared for, especially when thinking about her step-grandmother.

Nadia turned her attention back to Christoph. With her red lips parted, she spoke in an informal tone.

“Count Schneider’s birthday celebration is coming up, you know. I came down to attend and maybe catch a little wind. Feels like I’m back home after such a long time. The city has grown, making me realize how much time has passed.”

Christoph sat opposite her, casting a skeptical gaze as if saying he doubted she had come for such trivial reasons.

Nadia noticed but didn’t care. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and from her lips flowed a voice laced with implication.

“I heard you’ve divorced Mrs. Schneider.”

This time, Christoph’s eyes narrowed. His thick eyebrows twitched, and his dark pupils emitted an unpleasant light.

“I don’t know where you heard such a thing, but it’s nonsense. The idea of divorcing Marianne is not even worth responding to.”

“I’ve heard that Mrs. Schneider left because she couldn’t stand your indifference. Didn’t you know? Well, rumors usually reach the person involved last. So you weren’t aware? Then the rumor that you two are separated, is it also untrue? Where is Mrs. Schneider now?”

Christoph lifted only his eyes, which had instantly grown cold and emotionless.

“Enough.”

Count Schneider stood up from his seat and spoke.

“It was good to see you again after so long, Nadia. Now continue your conversation with Christoph. I’m going to retire for the night; I’m tired.”

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
