“I understand.”

Ron stepped back only after mentioning the existence of the knight order.

Under imperial law, there was no major issue with an individual possessing fewer than fifty private soldiers. Although some abused this provision, most generally adhered to it.

In fact, nobles often harbored strong reluctance toward maintaining private soldiers, since there were frequent cases where the Emperor or other noble houses persecuted a family by labeling even non-knights as their private troops. Thus, nobles usually avoided keeping private soldiers unless absolutely necessary.

Except in special circumstances.

However, under imperial law, “private soldiers” referred to people, whereas my knight order was the Pigeon Knight Order. Therefore, there was no way I could proudly present it.

“Then we shall go inside. If you haven’t come out after one hour, we’ll come in to check on you.”

“I understand.”

Only then did Ron and Ken’s expressions simultaneously brighten. The knights they had prepared for any possible emergency felt the same relief.

‘One hour… that should be enough.’

I glanced briefly at the tower. Maybe I should have said two hours instead.

I recalled Shasha once saying climbing the Mage Tower was incredibly exhausting. Back then, I thought it was just because she was a child, but seeing it now, I realized it must be tough even for adults.

“I’ll open the door.”

At the hooded child’s words, the door opened. And I… slightly regretted not telling Ron and Ken to wait three hours.

It looked enormous from the outside, but inside it was even more magnificent. Within the cylindrical building stretched an endless staircase.
