“There’s no need to investigate in detail. Just look into the things that are externally noticeable—roughly will be enough. That should be sufficient.”

He still looked at me with an expression of incomprehension.

This was to bring down the utterly incompetent Archmage Teslora. And the Archmage, whose audacity had swollen far beyond what should have stayed hidden in his gut, must have left evidence scattered everywhere.

Thus, even without a thorough investigation, a little digging should easily uncover proof of his misdeeds.

Since the Mage Tower exclusively produces magical artifacts, everyone likely assumes that’s simply how it’s always operated.

“Sufficient?”

“Yes. Haven’t the prices of magical artifacts from the Mage Tower risen recently? They probably claimed it was due to increased raw material costs.”

The Emperor’s expression shifted slightly—he looked as if asking, “How could you possibly know that?”

“The prices of the gems I’ve been buying lately went up too. Isn’t it just market logic that when one thing rises, others follow?”

“How did you figure it out from that alone?”

I couldn’t possibly say, “Because I can see the future anytime.” If I had more information, I could casually claim foresight and take the easy path—but the problem was precisely that I knew too little.

After all, at this point in the story, none of this had even been mentioned.

Especially regarding the Mage Tower. Rather than bluntly stating, “That bastard’s been embezzling massively behind the scenes, so we just need to expose the evidence,” it was safer to imply I’d deduced it from general circumstances—so I wouldn’t appear utterly incompetent.

If my knowledge of the future dwindled, I’d become an incompetent person.

Until then, I’d have to carefully reference bits of the future and use them wisely.
