He got along well with the Empress, and his own mother, the former Empress, was one of the people who made him despise humanity, so he likely didn’t have this level of misogyny back then.
“Ah, then, Liandro, do you have someone you love?”
It was a question meant for him. It seemed like a question that couldn’t be asked any other day.
“No.”
And his answer was more definitive than ever.
“I don’t know why you’re asking, but since you asked, I’ll answer. No, there is no such person.”
“Ah…”
“Let’s get back to the original topic.”
As if he had no intention of ever bringing it up, Liandro shifted his gaze back to the children.
“As for Ledelo, if there’s something I know, it’s that his condition is a bit strange.”
“Strange, you say?”
“Ledelo said he grew up in an orphanage. That’s true. It’s as if someone indoctrinated him, he was wandering the streets when someone took him to ‘that’ orphanage. An anxious child who didn’t even know his own name.”
It was a story that had never appeared in the novel.
“It was a good opportunity to call the orphanage director to talk about it.”
She was questioned by the Emperor once. But it was such a dreadful time that she showed symptoms of mental disturbance and vowed never to speak about the princess again.
“I couldn’t hear the past stories I wanted to, but I did hear some about Ledelo. He said he was admitted to the orphanage with no memory. And he didn’t regain any memories there. The orphanage director said that the child suddenly disappeared.”
“Is that all?”
“He came to the palace because he suddenly heard a voice telling him to come here. And so, he met me. Declaring himself as royalty, he confidently told me and even offered me an object.”
It was the same story as last time. Nothing different.
“Liandro, what do you think? Who might have abandoned the child there?”
“He had no memory, so he must have wandered there. Could the mother have left the child at that place?”
Liandro already had some idea of who the child’s mother was. Maybe that’s why? He was definitive. The mother definitely did not leave him there.
But the fact that someone took the wandering Ledelo to ‘that’ orphanage was too strange. Whether he was pretending not to know or really thought it was a coincidence was unknown.
“Who’s the person who brought him there?”
“He was just a passerby. Redelo also testified the same, and the orphanage director said he saw the man.”
“I see. But doesn’t that orphanage take in two types of children?”
“How would you know about that? Do you know something about the orphanage?”
“No. I just found out while talking with Redelo.”
Leandro’s eyes, which had momentarily glimmered with anticipation, turned cold.
“I see.”
“Didn’t Redelo tell you about his time in the orphanage?”
“He just said he was fine. That’s all he talks about. He doesn’t go into details.”
That’s a relief. I spoke cautiously just in case, and luckily Redelo’s excuse seemed to have worked.
Discussing the orphanage was risky. I refrained from saying anything foolish about seeing the future because I knew the Emperor was still searching for my younger sibling.
Leandro was still suspicious of the orphanage director, so I hastily made an excuse about Redelo to prevent him from getting any unnecessary ideas about the future.
“I see.”
“That’s unfortunate.”
He shook his head from side to side.
“So what was the first outfit Redelo was wearing?”
“Suddenly?”
“Yes.”
“It was ordinary. Just the typical clothes that commoners would wear. It was absurd that he jumped out dressed so normally, claiming to be royalty.”
That can’t be. If he was dressed as a commoner, it means the orphanage director accepted him as a child for adoption, not for slave labor…?
“He had no memories, and wore commoner clothes… Was he skinnier back then?”
“Yes.”
“Then it seems like there is some lying going on.”
“Lying?”
“The orphanage accepts two types of children. They accept children who look like they could be adopted, and another type for menial labor. Redelo’s friend was one who did menial labor. But Redelo, who was more ordinary than anyone and even skinnier back then, was raised to be a child for adoption… Isn’t that contradictory?”
I unwittingly rambled on.
Upon hearing this, the Emperor let out a small sigh of realization, as if he hadn’t considered this point at all.
“I see.”
“You might want to look into that part more.”
“Alright.”
And then, whatever it is that Redelo isn’t telling us.
An Indifferent Woman is the One Men Desire the Most
One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.
This novel has the following triggers, so if you’re sensitive to these, please don’t read:
1. The female lead has had many relationships, but she treated each one seriously and broke up properly.
It’s just that the men unilaterally pestered her incessantly. For the female lead, when she doesn’t like someone anymore, she simply doesn’t like them.
(This applies to her relationships with Male Lead 1, 2, 3, and 4 as well, but she’s loyal in each 1-on-1 relationship!)
2. In this novel, Male Lead 2 and the female lead kiss in a car, and Male Lead 1 sees it and beats up Male Lead 2.
The female lead calls the police and sends both Male Lead 1 and 2 to the police station! Male Lead 1 begs the female lead not to break up with him.
3. Male Lead 1 has a gentle appearance but an obsessive personality.
Male Lead 2 has a delicate and soft appearance, slightly green tea-like (two-faced).
Male Lead 3 is a youthful college student and a smart person who has secretly liked the female lead for a long time.
Male Lead 4 is the female lead’s father’s special assistant, a business elite with deep, hidden thoughts.
4. At the beginning of this novel, the female lead has already broken up with Male Lead 1 (Chapter 4) and gotten back together with Male Lead 2 (ex-boyfriend).
5. Enter with caution if you have triggers!!!
