“Do you dislike it?”
“If you say let’s go, anywhere is fine. Let’s leave right away.”
“Well… Let’s tell the kids about it first.”
Holding my hand tightly, as if about to escape into the refuge of love at any moment, he looked at me, and I nodded.
“Ah… I thought he would suggest going together for sure.”
“Today, we need to go to a place just the two of us.”
“Well, to do those things, you have to go as a pair, right?”
With only such thoughts in his head, Lian made a sinister expression. How did he endure that desire?
“Like a beast.”
“Originally, men tend to become beasts in front of the women they love. A well-behaved puppy during the day, and at night… a very wild wolf.”
“…Really, it feels like a cheesy and uninteresting saying from my father’s time.”
I shook my head in disbelief, looking at him. However, Lian seemed to have no intention of stopping. As if he would burst into flames if he stayed a moment longer, I grabbed his hand firmly and quickly headed to the Star Palace.
Just as it seemed that Heaven and Merkin had returned, Shasha and Rodelo were in the room drawing and playing.
“I’ll be going out for a short while today, is that okay?”
Both children stood up simultaneously at the sudden words.
“We should go too.”
“No way! It’s uneasy for the emperor and unni to go out alone. No, we can’t. We don’t know when some danger might happen.”
Not stopping there, as Shasha nodded, Rodelo came out with clothes and quickly put them on.
“Where are we going?”
“Oh my, we have to follow them everywhere. After all, the emperor and unni are still babies.”
The two, who were muttering, were already ready. Seeing their somewhat shameless appearance, I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Do you know how cute you are?”
“No. We are cool. The cool us will protect unni and the emperor! That day, weird people were everywhere.”
At the same time, Rodelo drew a wooden sword from his waist.
“I’ll hit them all.”
“Our pigeon squad won’t stay still either.”
At that moment, pigeons flew into the room through the open window, cooing. Lian, perhaps having some unpleasant memories about pigeons, slightly shrunk his body.
“It seems okay today, Shasha, Rodelo. Lian is with us, and we’re just going to the shrine, so it shouldn’t be dangerous.”
“No, no. Are you going to leave us behind? Absolutely not! We will go together.”
“For the sake of safety, we will go together.”
I stroked the heads of the two children.
“We’ll go and come back today. It’s something that must be done.”
I wanted to take the children with me as if I felt that in my heart. However, taking the children with me without knowing the condition of the princess would be the worst option.
“So, please bear with it this time.”
Only then did Rodelo put the wooden sword he was holding back in its place. Shasha did the same. The pigeons, who had been fluttering their wings, quickly flew out through the open window.
“If Unni says that… we will go with you… I can’t say no… It’s not dangerous, right?”
Shasha looked at me with sparkling eyes.
“Yes, it’s not dangerous at all. So just wait a bit! We’ll be back soon. Rodelo, you have to be with Shasha.”
Rodelo grabbed Shasha’s hand firmly.
“Yes!”
“Well then, Lian, we’ll go. We’ll be back soon. We should have a family meal when we come back, right?”
Lian seemed to realize only now that a person who should be included in the family was missing from this place.
“Bella…”
“Let’s go.”
Smiling at him, who couldn’t say anything, I pulled him even stronger. He stood there like a statue, silently gazing at me. I pulled Lian more strongly than ever. The conclusion of this novel is not far away.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
