I Became the Regretful Male Lead's Sister (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
“Your Highness.”
Unable to ignore him any longer, I gave a slight nod, and he grinned, stepping closer.
“It’s been a while, Lady Winters.”
“Yes, it has been quite some time, Your Highness.”
Teresa gave a small smile at our exchange.
With a blank expression, I nudged Cassian’s side—signaling her to send him away somewhere, since she at least knew him better than I did.
But Cassian ignored my signal.
Watching us, the Crown Prince shook his head, as if suddenly feeling like the troublemaking younger sibling.
Nathaniel took champagne glasses from a passing servant and handed them to us.
“Lady Menisil, I had a wonderful time today. Dancing after so long was exhausting, though.”
“Your dancing was so splendid it’s hard to believe it’s been so long, Your Highness.”
Teresa praised his dancing skill enthusiastically, and I didn’t miss her quick glance toward me.
Hey, I have no interest in him.
It was an overly obvious signal, but it was so endearing that I couldn’t help but smile.
Cassian, too, watched the situation with a sly grin, clearly amused by something.
While laughing and chatting, I oddly felt many men circling around us.
And Teresa was right at the center of it all.
‘They probably want to ask her to dance, but can’t because the Crown Prince is here.’
I briefly considered taking Nathaniel away for a moment, but quickly changed my mind.
If you truly wanted something, you had to be willing to take any risk.
I had no intention of handing Teresa over to a man too timid to ask her to dance just because he feared the Crown Prince’s disfavor.
Just then,
a tall, well-built man approached us. I quickly scanned him from head to toe.
Handsome face, broad shoulders, and his attire was clearly of high quality.
“Lady Menisil.”
His voice was pleasant, too. I glanced at Cassian, and she nodded in approval.
He passed the first test.
If things went well with the Crown Prince, he’d gain wealth, honor, and love all at once—making him the best possible choice. But it was also good for Teresa to meet various men and find someone who truly captured her heart.
More importantly, the mere fact that she was meeting someone else mattered.
“I am Count Dmitri. I’ve always stayed in my estate, so this is my first time at such a party.”
“Pleased to meet you, my lord.”
He cleared his throat nervously and bowed slightly.
“Though my dancing skills surely cannot compare to His Highness the Crown Prince’s, would you honor me with a dance?”
Perfect. I nearly applauded Count Dmitri for his respectful request that also flattered Nathaniel.
Perhaps because he claimed it was his first time at such an event, Teresa couldn’t refuse and nodded.
“The honor is mine, my lord.”
Dancing with Nathaniel had been difficult to decline due to his royal status, but this time, it was entirely Teresa’s own choice.
My heart leapt as they headed toward the dance floor.
Cassian watched them with a deeply moved expression—surely thinking the same thing I was.
Teresa had always been trapped in her own shell, shrinking back and never voicing her own opinions for fear of Maximilian’s reaction.
The fact that she had now allowed someone else to dance with her was monumental.
“You’re about to cry, aren’t you, my lady?”
Nathaniel shattered my sentimental moment. Leaning against a nearby pillar with his arms crossed, he gazed toward the dance floor.
“I’ll never forget your kindness today, even unto death.”
“Just keep your promise. The moment I hear that rumor, your head will roll.”
I turned away from his gleaming, madness-filled eyes. Cassian had vanished at some point, too.
We watched their dance in silence.
I was once again overwhelmed with emotion, while Nathaniel added a cynical remark.
“You’ll get stabbed in the back if you keep worrying so much about others.”
“I’ll protect my own back, so please don’t concern yourself.”
Trending
Honestly, it wasn’t me who needed caution—it was the Crown Prince.
In the original story, he’d be gravely betrayed by a trusted subordinate and unable to prevent Teresa’s death.
And yet he dared lecture me about betrayal right to my face?
“Jaina Winters.”
Chilled by his tone, I shut my mouth again.
This wretched mouth of mine.
I kept speaking to him just as I used to speak to Maximilian. I wasn’t originally this bold.
No matter how I thought about it, I must have lost my original personality due to all the frustration from the original plot.
“My apologies, Your Highness. That was out of line.”
“You’d best not forget you only have one life.”
“Yes, yes.”
Nathaniel sighed deeply at my half-hearted reply, then patted my shoulder and said,
“Shall we dance as well?”
“Huh? Us? Why?”
I nearly fainted from shock at his words. Seeing Nathaniel’s expression darken, I hastily clasped my hands and bowed my head.
“Thank you, Your Highness. It’s an honor for my family.”
“Stop being sarcastic and just take my hand already.”
Ah, I hadn’t wanted things to get this entangled.
Grumbling inwardly, I placed my hand in his.
Nathaniel lightly pulled me toward the center of the dance floor. Everyone’s eyes turned to us.
“You don’t have to dance with me specifically.”
“If I don’t, only Lady Menisil will end up in trouble.”
“Why?”
As I asked, Nathaniel spun me around once with an indifferent expression and replied,
“His Majesty will summon Count Menisil first thing tomorrow morning.”
“Oh.”
Right—now that I thought about it, in the original story, Nathaniel showed astonishingly little interest in women.
His father, the Emperor, had even worried that his son’s preferences might be… unusual.
And yet here he was, suddenly dancing with a woman.
They’d probably start arranging an engagement immediately.
‘Hmm, but this is actually the perfect development.’
It was the ending I’d always dreamed of.
“You seem to be plotting something sinister.”
“Huh? No, I’m not!”
“My lady, you can’t hide your expressions. Don’t even try lying from now on—it’s all too obvious.”
His mocking attitude made my blood boil.
“Yes, yes. Then I suppose it’ll be hard for Your Highness to keep secrets too.”
“I see.”
From his cold smile, I could guess what he’d say next.
I quietly closed my mouth.
It was the moment I realized that silence was essential for a long life.
“Yes, silence is important.”
Seemingly satisfied at last, Nathaniel smiled at me.
The dance, which I thought would never end in my lifetime, finally concluded.
Just then, Maximilian returned. His expression was astonishingly cold.
Teresa’s eyes wavered when they met Maximilian’s. Max, who had stood firm despite the stares of the men around Teresa, turned and walked back outside after a brief pause.
He was clearly furious.
Teresa looked at me.
“Go talk to him properly, sister.”
“Yeah. I should.”

“If you honestly tell him what’s in your heart, it’ll surely be alright.”
From here on, it was truly their matter.
I’d interfered as much as an outsider possibly could.
“No matter what decision you make, I’ll always support you.”
Without a word, Teresa simply nodded and followed Maximilian outside.
“What if she gets caught like that?”
The Crown Prince asked from above my head. I looked up at him and replied,
“Then I’ll have to beat someone senseless until they become a proper person, even if it takes till I die.”
“What devotion.”
Nathaniel laughed out loud.
Teresa, chasing after Maximilian, found him standing still deep in the garden.
“Max?”
“Don’t come closer.”
His voice, unusually agitated, made Teresa hesitate—but she approached him again.
“Max, let me come nearer.”
“I said don’t!”
Beneath the moonlight, his face was twisted with anger. Teresa felt uneasy.
Was he jealous of seeing her dance with another man?
Or perhaps… something else.
“Shouldn’t we talk?”
“About what? You always pretended not to notice whenever I came to see you.”
Despite his cold reply, Teresa moved closer. For some reason, she felt this might be her last chance.
As if it were truly the end.
She reached over a low wall and grasped his wrist.
“Max.”
When Maximilian turned, his previously indifferent eyes now burned with other emotions—
contempt, anger, jealousy—all the negative feelings imaginable.
Teresa flinched and let go of his hand.
“You’re just the same.”
“Max?”
“You’re exactly like your mother.”
Stunned by his clear anger, Teresa froze.
Like a wild beast,
Maximilian tore into her.
“In the end, you’ll use your beauty as a weapon to control me too.”
“Max, no—it’s not like that.”
“Not like what?”
Teresa recalled the past of the Duchess of Winters, who was currently separated from her husband.
The Duchess had been so breathtakingly beautiful she could shake the Empire itself—and she knew it well.
Even the Emperor had desired her, yet family pressure forced her into a marriage with the Duke of Winters.
But unlike the noble and beautiful Duchess, the Winters duchy at the time was poor and rough.
The cold, desolate years in the north had worn her down.
A few years later, when the Duke’s family returned to the capital after gaining wealth and honor through successful mana stone ventures, she was utterly changed.
The Duchess of Winters began constantly stirring scandals by exploiting her beauty.
Many men were drawn to her stunning looks—and she enjoyed it herself.
Eventually, around that time, conflicts with the Duke led her into their current separation.
“I told you from the beginning—I agreed to our engagement because I believed you wouldn’t use your beauty like other women.”
“When have I ever used my looks? I was simply attending this event!”
“Then why didn’t you ask me to go with you!”
Teresa bit her lip hard at Maximilian’s words. He thought she was making excuses.

Just as he opened his mouth to mock her thoroughly,
“Would any woman ask her partner such a thing?”
“What?”
Her voice trembled with tears.
Maximilian looked into Teresa’s eyes.
Her jet-black, pearl-like eyes shimmered with moisture.
“Men are supposed to be the ones asking women to be their partners.”
Only then did Maximilian recall Jaina’s earlier words—
Had he ever asked Teresa?
“But you always refused me.”
“Only because you hated it! You said you disliked me attending these events, and that you couldn’t stand seeing me dance with other men!”
“Then why today of all days!”
After shouting, Maximilian seemed to realize his mistake and fell silent.
“We’ve been together for over twenty years. I thought you’d trust me by now.”
Teresa’s eyes, fixed on him, were filled with reproach.
Seeing that unfamiliar emotion, Maximilian realized something was terribly wrong.
It was a mistake.
Yet for some reason, his mouth wouldn’t move.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

Did you threaten Nathaniel Jaina and then invite him to dance?
There isn’t a single sane man in this novel.

Teresa, you’ve also improved a lot.
It’s okay to meet many men until you find the right one.
