We headed towards Calleor Street, where the festival was taking place.

The sun had set, and thanks to the cooler weather, many people had come out to enjoy themselves.

Nathaniel’s head stood taller than the rest, drawing attention, but with the crowd being so large, the attention was quickly diverted.

“Jaina, what’s that?”

“Ah. That’s candied apples.”

“You seem to know everything.”

Being his first time at a festival, Nathaniel was excited and wandered around, looking at everything.

Perhaps because the author was Korean, all the dishes at the festival were things I knew.

I handed him a waffle, thickly topped with whipped cream and spread with jam.

Nathaniel began eating the waffle, being careful not to let the cream fall.

Seeing him open his mouth wide, bite into the waffle, and chew thoroughly, it felt like taking care of a younger brother.

“Tastes good?”

“It’s edible.”

It was clearly a lukewarm response, but he started eating the waffle faster.

Judging by how he even licked the whipped cream off his fingers, it was unmistakably delicious.

“Ah, Nathaniel. Lean down a bit.”

“Why?”

He made an annoyed face but obediently did as told. It was cute.

“You have cream on your face.”

I wiped the cream off the corner of his mouth with my finger.

Nathaniel stared down at me.

We decided to buy another cocktail like the ones we had earlier and returned to the vendor.

The lady blessed us and gave us a handful of peanuts.

“In a little while, there will be fireworks for the Crown Prince and his wife. Make sure to watch.”

There stood a clock tower.

He didn’t hear my thoughts, did he? Suddenly, Nathaniel’s expression became fierce.

“Your, your Highness, the Crown Prince.”

The sweet smell drew nearer, and a soft hand wrapped around my waist.
